this board seems to have a lot of folks who play fantasy baseball so i thought maybe you guys could help out. im in need of a starting pitcher.

now obviously you cant see the free agents available in my league but i was thinking maybe you folks could toss out some names, names that might be out there and that i have overlooked. share you late season sleepers.

ill go first.

felix hernandez. he is taken.

:)

first of all, thanks for all the input. it is appreciated.

turns out i do have a few options.

Lowry, Seo, Padilla as mentioned in this thread.

Radke and Jason Vargas are also available. thoughts?

ill be honest, i have not seen any of these guys pitch in the last month. all i got to go by is numbers. their august numbers and post all star break numbers.

Vargas has some good numbers. Also, Jorge Sosa has pitched pretty decently and is on a winning team. I prefer him to the dozens of journeymen 4.50 ERA guys you typically see on FA.

1. sosa isn't all that good.
2. as of just before tonight's game, he's no longer in the starting rotation.

Radke is a great pickup in a league that counts K/BB ratio.

Lowry is pitching well again. 1 run through 6 innings. 6 k's. just no run support. benson is pitching well for the mets.

what do you guys think of Blanton from the A's. again, all i've got to go by are numbers, which for the month of august look great, just havent seen him pitch on tv. he could be throwing 85 mph fastballs for all i know...
