hopefully this belongs here and not in general discussion but it is related to sport. does anyone here suffer from the classic symptoms of white-line fever. i play tennis on a somewhat competitive level (B grade for thos playing at home). Off the court I'm as gentle as they come and wouldn't hurt a fly.

When I cross those white lines however on to the court I become Lleyton Hewitt (perhaps not that bad but you get the picture). I nail a backhand down the line and i'm yelling "come on" with my fist pumped. I miss an easy volley and i'm almost throwing my racquet in disgust. When the match is all over i'm back to good old gentle a surrrrrpise left. :) What is with people completely changing their personalities when they enter the sporting arena? Anyone else suffer from this incurable disease?

Well I can tend to be the same way when participating in sports, however I always thought that "white line fever" was something that long haul truckers suffered from when driving for long periods of time. Something to the effect that you drive so much that the dotted white lines become one solid one. Its usually not a good thing.

^^I too thought that was what "white line fever" was.

I am super competitive, so I am the same way.

I am so quiet and nice, but get me into a game, and you can forget all of that. I am no different when it comes to watching sports on TV. That is not very lady like of me....but I don't care! :o

I thought this topic was about coke.

Anyways, I used to play soccer when I was younger, and I was on a pretty competitive team. We played in tournaments often, including several for the state cup. I'm a pretty thin and unassuming person off the field, but on the field I would catch people off guard with how physical I was. I would never let my temper show, as in I would never completely flip shit. But if I felt that anyone tackled me too hard or tried to put a dirty move on me, then I would fight back. Sometimes I would step on their heels as they were running away, which was good because I would usually take their shoe off in the process. One time this dude was hounding me all game, and he tried pulling down on my jersey as I was going up for a header. I threw my arm back "by accident" which resulted in me delivering a back hand to his face. He had braces so I got cut...I still have the scar on my hand.

Another time I kicked a kid in the throat, but I swear that one was an accident.

The best was indoor soccer though. I got to combine my love of hockey and soccer by hip checking people into the boards.
