This thread has been a long time coming.
So today he got another concussion during a pre-season game when he got drilled by Denis Gauthier. It was a perfectly clean hit, but apparently Roenick wasn't impressed:

I think it indicates the state of our game, the lack of respect - especially in pre-season. It is uncalled for. It is ridiculous - one of the reasons our game isn't as good as it once was. There is no respect for people in this league. It was not a cheap hit, it was a good solid hit. But you don't do that in pre-season.
This is a quote that comes from a guy who, earlier in his career, would go out of his way to make a big hit because he had to play "JR" hockey. This is a guy who has dished out his share of dirty hits from behind, and that's far worse than a big clean hit in the pre-season. I can't find the quote, but Roenick also mentioned something about how Gauthier shouldn't have gone after him because he has a history of concussion... what an idiot. Does this guy honestly think that he's above the game, that players will look at him and think "Oh, it's JR, I should ease up, maybe I'll just shove him a little," cause that's not the way it works.
We'll see if JR ever hesitates to level a guy like Eric Lindros.

The title of this thread is just a given. As much as I hate Patrick Roy, he delivered possibly the best comeback I've ever heard in sports history when he stated (this is not perfectly accurate): "I can't hear JR cause my Stanley Cup rings are plugging my ears."

Behind Darren McCarty, JR is my least favorite hockey player.
I wish that for once Roenick would shut the hell up. If he thinks that someone shouldn't hit him because he's prone to concussions, then he should just quit. I would do the happiest happy dance the day that happens.

As usual, he's still talking... here's his new theory:
Canadian fans think he's whining, but that's because he's American. If Joe Sakic got hit, Canadian fans would call it a cheap shot.
And Steve Avery has decided to get involved too... how about some direct quotes:
Steve Avery wrote:
I think it was typical of most French guys in our league with a visor on, running around and playing tough and not back anything up.
Steve Avery wrote:
I'd think if a guy like Brett Hull was coming up the middle, somebody probably wouldn't have stepped up and hit him, but like I said, a typical move from a guy wearing a visor that certainly doesn't like to get scratched at all.
I nominate him for douchebag #2.
