anybody else hate this man? I've decided he's not just the worst announcer in baseball, but perhaps in all of sports.

He's brutal, but I get so much joy laughing at his incompetance.

"Okay, check this out. The ball took a funny hop... Can we slow this down?.......... right.............. THERE!"

Thanks for the insight, Tim.

mccarver, sterling, kay, and waldman are the worst four announcers in baseball.

He said something so stupid that I called him a "stupid fuck" in front of my kid last night. I'll try to remember what it was.

EDIT:

Oh, I remember. They had just played "Sweet Home Chicago" to a montage of Sox fans, and McCuntrag says, "You know, Chicago is one of the GREAT jazz cities in all the world."

"No, that's the BLUES, you stupid fuck."

Tim McCarver makes my ears bleed. Why he is given a national slot is way beyond me.

He is only slightly more annoying than Joe Buck. Keep in mind that I agree with all of the above posts. I guess those 2 being the #1 team on Fox's baseball coverage goes along with just about everything else on Fox.

dont forget everyone's favorite modest, insightful, charming HOF 2nd baseman - joe morgan.

i think mccarver is literally "not all there" upstairs.

What I really hate is how they put their focus on the uninformed baseball fan, trying to explain the smallest minutiae that 90-percent of us knew before he mentioned it. Do I really need someone to explain to me over and over and over again whey it is good for a left-handed hitter to hit it to the right side to move along a runner with no outs? You F'n idiot, baseball fans know this. Maybe make a quick point, but don't beat it into the ground. And for the last time it's BRONSON Arroyo.

he's even more brutal with Lou Pinella in the booth with him playing their old-timers games. how many times did Pinella say "good point timmy"
last night?

McCarver is senile.

I dont know why the feel they need to add a 3rd man to the booth. McCarver and Buck, although bad, at least have worked together for many years and have chemistry. When you throw a 3rd guy in there who, in lou's case, has never announced before it makes things alot worse, if that is possible. I like lou pinella, but there is absolutly no reason for him to be there.

He essentially just repeated what Buck or McCarver said each time. It's bad enough he does that, but add in that he's repeating McCarver's garbage and it's high comedy.

I can't stand McCarver. I think the worst was during some playoff game, I want to say it was the Diamondbacks but I could be wrong and the pitcher was a Nebraska Cornhuskers fan and they kept saying this during the whole inning he was pitching, over and over. Also, do they need to show and refer to people like Ben Affleck, or the wives of the players during the games? I mean I remember when the Cubs were in the playoffs how many times did they show Kerry Wood's wife?? I like watching Dodger games cos you just get Vin Scully and he's the best!!

What topic has more threads? The Yankees sucking or Tim McCarver sucking? I'd have to think it's close.

When I used to have DirecTV with the MLB Extra Innings package, I would put on Dodgers games and not watch them, just listen.

I won't even watch the ALCS because of that senile stupid fuck and I'm from Chicago. But, for all you McCarver haters out there (and i'm with you):

http://shutuptimmccarver.com/

Some of my favs

*"The reason we call that pitch up and in is because the arms are attached to the shoulder."

*McCarver: “well, when Pedro becomes tired, the Red Sox coaches have 2 options, leave Pedro in, or take him out and go to the bullpen.”

* "Yankee pitchers have had great success this year against Cabrera when they get him out."

*This was during the bottom of the 9th inning of the 2001 World Series, just before the Diamondbacks started their comeback against Mariano Rivera: "You know, hitters have a tough time hitting knuckleballs, catchers have a tough time catching knuckleballs, and hitters have a tough time hitting Mariano Rivera."
Does Rivera throw a knuckleball? No. Did anyone on the Arizona or New York staffs throw a knuckleball at that time? No. Were Phil Neikro, Charlie Hough, or Tim Wakefield within 300 miles of Bank One Ballpark at
that time? I seriously doubt it.

After that comment, Joe Buck carried on with the play-by-play as if it were never said. I'm sure he had no idea where McCarver was going with that one.
