why do you say that? because they blew it with k.c., tampa bay, and a stripped down chicago team that had nothing to play for? it's not like they lost to tampa b. . .fuck. nevermind.

I wouldn't be so hard on them, the played over their heads for a long time, the ending was tough but they obviously have something to build on for 2006.
a team has to have the lead in order to choke. what they did is better referred to as "not getting the job done"

once Sizemore lost that fly ball in the sun, it was all over.
However, this team has enough young talent to dominate the division for the next 5 years like they did throughout the 90's.

They were up on the wild card by as many as two games with a week to play, and were closing in on the division. They lost games to KC, Tampa Bay, and got swept by Chicago (a team that had nothing to play for, and that played its "B" team on Friday). They choked.

good call. i was thinking in terms of winning the AL central.

Ya, kinda like last years ALCS.
actually, its not.
hey, if as a sox fan you'd rather fault the yankees for choking than crediting the sox for coming back then go ahead. it shows where your priorities are.

I think they're poised to be Braves-like in the next several years (in terms of winning the division), as long as they can maintain their bullpen. I'm still not sold on Wickman's health holding out long-term, so I'd like to see a new closer, or a reliever that could slide into that role next year.
Get rid of Belliard, sign another bat and the Tribe's in good shape.

Is that supposed to mean something? The Yankees were 3 outs away from sweeping, and end up getting reverse swept. Obviously the better team was the Red Sox, but that doesn't mean the Yankees didn't choke.

As much as I dislike the Sox, I must say I agree with you here.
i think it's premature to hand the indians the division next year or for the next 5. yes, they should probably be favorites, but chicago is pretty decent, the tigers finally got a real manager, and the twins have arguably the best pitching staff in the a.l. if they get a 2nd and 3rd baseman who can hit, like soriano and mueller, suddenly they're winning some of the 30 games they lost by one run.

So you are taking credit away from the Sox? Are you putting everything on the Yankees "choking" while the Sox just happened to be there in the right place at the right time?
