He's the old Denver receivers coach. He's awesome. Sad to see him go. He was one of the highlights of the team. Remember last few seasons when McNair was a stud (not so much this season with injuries) That was due to Heimerdinger and his wide open offense. I also got the sense that Fisher held him back at times because Fisher can be very conservative. If he has his way with game plan and coaching he will be a great asset.

I agree. We could have used him to help Ashley Lelie and Darius Watts develop.

That was a quick hiring, as well. I didn't even get to add Hackett to the YOU'RE FIRED! thread before I heard about this.

Jets offered him more money than the Titans could afford. I hope they find someone just as good to replace him.

The Jets fans practically fired him already. ;)

I wil if no one else does, but wouldn't it be more appropriate if a Jets fan does it?

You know just going in, he already has a relationship with McCarins and he'll get comfortable with Moss very soon I'd think. He's got a great QB and a fantastic backfield to work with, along with some excellent WR's. There's no reason why they can't excel next season.

From what I heard he and McCarins didn't get along very well when they were both in TN.

From this article. http://njo.com/jets/ledger/index.ssf?/b ... 160310.xml

Heimerdinger is a hard-nosed, in-your-face type of coach who is detailed oriented and extremely demanding. He coached Jets wide receiver Justin McCareins for three seasons in Tennessee and the pair had a love-hate relationship. Heimerdinger rode McCareins hard and turned him into a better player. McCareins led the Jets in receptions this season with 56

And from here

http://njo.com/columns/ledger/jones/ind ... 160310.xml

"Mike's not a real outgoing guy, at first. You kind of have to gain the respect of Mike Heimerdinger," O'Donnell said. "He's a demanding coach, as Justin McCareins will tell you."

After McCareins -- who occasionally clashed with his coordinator -- was traded last year from the Titans to the Jets, his former teammates taped a picture of Heimerdinger in the receiver's old locker.

From that point on, the players would move the photo to the locker of whoever was currently residing in Heimerdinger's doghouse

Ok. I've heard that. But I took your comment to mean that McCareins HATED Heimerdinger. He's just a tough coach who pushes you to succeed. I think McCareins might not like that but respects it.

The Jets just let Heimerdinger go--boy, I hope the Broncos can land him to replace Kubiak.
