300-206-279 = 785 (edit - bad math!)

My first ever. My previous high game was 279 when I was 17 (and I had a 278 the next night, heh). Since it was during sanctioned league, I'll get a ring from the USBC and $300 from the center!

I used this ball to do it: http://www.brunswickbowling.com/smokin_inferno

Any other good bowlers here? What's your high score?

wow, good shit man. that's like pitching a perfect game. I couldn't imagine the pressure on the last couple of frames. Did people gather around and watch you?

My highest score is a 237 but i throw the straight ball so i doubt i'll ever get much higher than that. Plus i launch the ball about 5 feet in the air and it comes down about 3/4ths of the way down the lane. I've been kicked out of basically every bowling alley because of this. It gets really nasty when i'm drunk and bowling.

ive been in the bowling alley 2 times when someone bowled a 299, can you imagine that shit, 11 straight strikes then you leave one pin on the 12th, and ive seen 2 different people do that

To be honest with you, it wasn't that bad. I was so locked in, I knew that all I had to do was execute and I would do it. I guess the thought that I wouldn't execute never crossed my mind :)

I did blow it last year - I had the front 9 and guttered the 1st ball in the 10th. I couldn't fucking believe it.

I had the first two strikes of the 2nd game too, missed in the 3rd, and then the next four, for 18 of 19. I also had my last three or four in warm-ups :)

I'll definitely try to post a picture of it, and some other things too..the marquee should have my name on it next week!

Did you get one of those semi-deflated 300 balloons?

I'm lucky if I can break 100.

It's those damn balls, I can never find one that "fits" properly. Congrats on the high scores!

It's why I have 3 and soon 6 of my own drilled just for me :)

All Brunswick unless otherwise noted:

Raging Inferno (coming soon) - Pearlized particle, box finish, heavy oil
Smokin' Inferno - Pearlized resin, box finish (soon to be taken down to "rough buff"), heavier mediums
BVP Rampage - Pearlized resin, box finish, medium mediums
BVP Punisher - Pearlized resin, box finish, light mediums
Blue Hammer (Faball/Hammer) (coming soon) - Solid urethane, shined up, light oil
Watermelon (made by Lane Hawk) - Plastic, spares

On normal nights, I will only carry 4 (Raging, Smokin' or Rampage, Punisher, and Watermelon), the rest will be when I bowl tournaments. Usually on most league nights, I will only NEED three (one for the first game to game and-a-half, one for the rest, and the plastic), but you can never tell which ones you'll need.

On a related note, I recommend for anyone that enjoys bowling and wishes they could do better...go get yourself your own ball (from a real pro shop that will do the measurements for you) and bag, and your own shoes. Not only will you save money on shoe rental every time, but having a properly fitting ball makes the game soooo much more enjoyable. If you do it right, the whole package (ball, bag, shoes) will cost around $100 even after getting the ball drilled and all three should last nearly forever unless you become real serious about it. The enjoyment goes up even higher if you have uncommon fit requirements like I do...I have a span that is less than 4" (VERY small), tons of reverse pitch due to low finger flexibility, and a small thumb even for my small hand size. I throw 15 pound equipment, but if I were to use house balls, I'd have to use 10 or 12 because there's no way I could find a 15 that fits my hand.

If you need a ball recommendation...if you average under 120 (whether sanctioned or not), get the coolest looking plastic ball you can find because all plastic balls are the same and you really shouldn't go urethane or reactive at that scoring/ability level. If you average over 120, the BVP Punisher is one of the best balls I've ever thrown in the decade I've had my own equipment to use, and is actually in Brunswick's mid-priced ($99 undrilled) line. That + a plastic ball for spares would give one a two ball arsenal for $200 drilled that would make you competitive in any handicapped league you could find.

If you need a proshop recommendation, Tim Pallai at Landmark Lanes in Peoria, IL is awesome, and Mike Austin's Precision Pro Shop in Houston, TX is also fantastic (he does the drilling at http://www.birddogbowling.com too, but you need to have a ball with a great fit or a spec sheet if you want to order equipment over the internet). Other than that, I don't know. http://www.buddiesproshop.com is also a great place I hear, I think that's east coast.

Neither could I, my ball gets too close to the gutter and would bounce off :)
