i woulda had no problem with morrison getting it, so i dont see why anyone has a problem with jj getting it. all anyone ever said was hes a streaky shooter (freshman year) hes a shooter but cant put it on the floor (sophmore year) and everything else, but the kid worked on his game and has had some huge games despite being the target (fair or not) of every single person in said gym, and he still busted everyones ass.
sure hes had some off games, but there isnt a player out there who hasnt

yeah but at the end of the day it's a meaningless award, plaque or trophy.
Yay, a couple of sportswriters think one kid performed better than another.
Morrison, will likely get drafted higher but all of it's mute because neither of these guys is performing at their best when it counts because their teams are out of it.
I mean, both impress the hell out of me I wish I had that kind of talent, but a couple more out of the hundreds of pro sports writers think a kid from Duke had a better year. Ok. It's a nice thing to hang on the wall at your parents house I guess.
Morrison just needs a contract from Norelco or Gillette.

that's what i think as well. i'd like to see some of the folks calling it bullshit actually provide some reasons for their argument.
yeah, i dont care if it's the ACC, SEC, BigTen, BigXII, Big East, Pac-Ten, whatever... playing against any of these conferences is waaaaaaaaay more difficult than putting up 30 against the likes of San Fransisco, San Diego, Portland, and the rest of the WCC... JJ shouldve won in a landslide imo

It's my own personal opinion..guy, Morrison had a higher scoring average, had more 30 point games, and didn't choke in the sweet sixteen. Provide some reasons for Reddick winning this award

It's the most valuable PLAYER, not most valuable shooter. Morrison is the complete package, Redick is not. He showed that in the tourney.
how so? - statistically the only advantage Morrison has is in the rebounding department and at least some of that has to be attributed to his position and height.
i tend to agree with pj-again in that numbers put up in the ACC are much more impressive than those put up in a third-rate conference.

Not trying to nitpick here, but I believe the word you are looking for is "moot," not "mute."

I wouldnt go so far to say it is bullshit Redick got it, since things were so close and they both could have won it.....but i think Morrison should have won it.
More ppg, more reb's, draws more fouls, better FG % and 3 point % more of a omplete player hands down.
But this, like any other award, is just pointless and Redick probably got this regular single season award for his career which is what happens a lot in more recent times.

no one can dispute the fact that Morrison played against shit talent... Pepperdine usually has something, but they were horrible this season just like the rest of the West Coast Conference... if Morrison wanted the award over JJ then he shouldve averaged well over 30 a game... imagine what JJ would do to the WCC... or better yet, imagine Morrison being guarded by guys who are 6'6" or taller and athletic... you dont have that in the WCC, and you definitely have that throughout the ACC... Morrison would have been lucky to average 25 in the ACC, tops.
and rebounding doesnt matter... JJ wasnt expected to rebound... fg%?... again, look at the competition they are playing... Redick was being guarded by taller guys than Morrison was being covered by half the time

so rebounding doesnt count as an advantage because Redick wasnt expected to rebound?....thats kind of silly
Number vs. "big" conference teams
Mayland 25 pts 9 boards
MSU 43 points 7 boards 4 assists (this was teh OT game so the stats are high)
Washington 43 points 5 boards
Ok State 25 points 6 boards
Memphis 34 points 5 boards
Stanford 34 points 6 boards
Xavior 35 points 4 boards
UCLA 25 points 5 boards
