I was hoping to return this afternoon and start this thread to hype how the Dawgs are back on track.
Obviously, that's not the case. So, the rest of you can feel free to discuss how the University of Washington's football program has fallen further, faster, than any other program ever.

The UGA guy thought it may be because people from the south, with their southern drawl accents, may have inspired it because of the way they pronounce the word "dogs". I was thinking maybe that UW did it because it has the letter "W".

Southerners pronounce dogs as "dahgs." "Dawgs" is more of a New York / northeastern thing.

I think the word "dawg" is pronounced similarly to "drawl"...with the same drawn out "aw" sound. So at this point, I would lean toward agreeing with the guy from Georgia. However, without conclusive evidence, I'm still giving UW the credit...

Yea I found out that Georgia officially became the Bulldogs in the 1920's because of their close association with Yale. The started plaing football in the late 1800's though.
As for the "Dawgs" I have no idea and cant find shit about it but since Georgia is far and away the best Dawgs ill say that they are the original.
