Michael Irvin charged with misdemeanor drug possession
PLANO, Texas (AP) — Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after police searched his vehicle during a traffic stop, Plano police said Sunday.
Irvin, an ESPN analyst and semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for speeding in Irving after being pulled over Friday afternoon for speeding in Plano, the Plano Police Department said. Police spokesman Mike Johnson said he didn't know what kind of paraphernalia was found.
Irvin paid a fine on the speeding ticket and posted bond on the drug paraphernalia possession charge. He was released about an hour after he was pulled over.
"We are reviewing the facts of the situation and have no comment at this time," ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said.
Irvin, a member of three Super Bowl championship teams with the Cowboys, retired in July 2000.
In 1996, Irvin pleaded no contest to felony cocaine possession in exchange for four years of deferred probation, a $10,000 fine and dismissal of misdemeanor marijuana possession charges.
Irvin holds Cowboys records for catches (750), receiving yards (11,904) and 100-yard games (47), including a team-record seven in a row in 1991.

I think this could keep him out of the Hall for another year.
what are you basing that on?
that not only is there major cowboy hatred from the HOF voters, but "off the field" stuff plays a major part in voting.
it didn't seem to affect LT
Ultimately, I don't think it will keep Irvin out, either. However, LT is arguably the greatest player at his position. If Jerry Rice got arrested for drug possession, I doubt it would keep him from being a first time selection.

I don't agree with the Cowboy hatred, but the off the field stuff is what I based my statement on.
I understand what you meant but we are talking about drug paraphernalia possession, sounds kind of minor to me. I doubt it will have any impact.
About the Cowboy hatred thing, I would like to hear more facts supporting this
Yeah, it was just paraphernalia, but it's another small blight on his record. He's had some other troubles and I think the timing of this could hurt him. I'm not saying it should, just that it could.
