i figured there would be more boxing fans talking in here considering how big this fight is. but maybe thats just a good indication of how much the sports popularity has gone down.

the anticipation is killing me.

Pearl Jam fans aren't exactly a big boxing demographic. Most boxing fans are older and/or minorities. It isn't a very popular sport right now but they do sell out most big fights and get over a million PPV buys for most big fights(and will probably get even more than that for this fight). As far as this being a "big" fight, can't say i really agree there. It's an "interesting" fight between 2 great fighters but neither of them are in their prime and neither of thwem should be fighting at this weight. Plus no real belt is involved(most importnatly the Ring Magazine belt).

Cotto/Margarito was a "big" fight(as will the rematch be). Hopkins/Calzaghe II would be a big fight. I'd love to see Paul Williams vs Margarito again, i saw Williams last week and he looked the best he's ever looked against a solid fighter who had never been stopped before in his career.

i'm very curious to see how oscar-pacquiao turns out

... in other boxing news, margo-mosley was moved from vegas to l.a.
it sucks, since i was kinda hoping to make the trip to lv for that one

clubber, you don't think manny's in his prime? is it because of the jump in weight? he completely demolished david diaz in his last fight. i know it's only david diaz, but manny looked absolutely amazing.

paul williams did look awesome last week. margo is probably ducking him because another loss against williams would take a lot of his $tardom away from him.

A lot of people are expecting a great bout between Mosley/Margo but i don't see it. I think Mosley will take a beating bad enough to stop him from fighting anymore. Could be ugly.

Manny did destroy Diaz and is still an elite fighter but i think all his wars have taken a bit of a toll on him and it will show on Saturday. However, if DLH can't pull the trigger and/or doesn't want to i think Pac can pull it out.

And Margo is kind of ducking Williams but nobody wants to fight PW. He's a freak and has a shitload of skills. Margo is a freak too but i think a good trainer can strategize well enough to combat the constant pressure. That being said, there's no other fighter i'd rather watch than Margarito.

interesting...

and yeah, for all the hype, a third fight between manny and marquez would've been a lot more attractive to most fans that this dream match, though i can see why manny would not go down that way.

and for oscar, i never though a fight with margo had any chance of happening. only margo would benefit from that, he would win and he would make a lot of money, leaving oscar with another loss and less money than fighting manny (or hatton or mayweather). oscar's a businessman first and foremost.

Teddy Atlas picked Manny to win, now i'm really confused. I have a feeling i'll be half in the bag and putting $100 on Pac man. You're getting $155 back right now which seems like a bargain for a fight this tough to call.

I've gone back and forth on this. My gut says Manny wins by KO. I think he'll just put way too much pressure on Oscar. If Oscar can use his reach/jab and keep Manny outside he could win easily, he doesn't seem to want to do that though. I could also see Oscar winning by KO due to Manny's subpar defense. Freddie Roach seems really confident.

for real. what's the deal with that argentinian dude? i don't think he threw a single punch, and didn't really get hit flush at all.

Golden Boy Promotions has a habit of putting on terrible under cards. You would think if you're going to charge people $55, you'd at least have one decent fight on the under card.

Great, due to their inferior under card, we have to wait 40 minutes until the main event.

This looks just like the Mayweather fight where Oscar just stood there and didn't jab. He should throw every punch to the body and hope Manny slows down in a couple rounds.

Did anyone else think Oscar looked dead tired before the fight even started?

The Mexecutioner strikes again. I'd love to see a Manny-Mayweather fight, or Manny-Hatton.

at this point i think mayweather is the only real challenge left for manny, and that's assuming he's still in top shape.

i don't really see hatton as that much of a challenge for manny after tonight. it would be a huge fight of course, but i don't know how good it could be.
