Just recently discovered this phenom at the Featherweight and Lightweight divisions...

...he is being hailed by many as the new Muhammad Ali because of his passion and talent in this sport.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manny_Pacquiao

i saw his last fight against Erik "El Terrible" Morales and it was the one of the best boxing matches I've seen in a long time. One of Pacquiao's other nicknames is "The Mexican Destroyer".

This guy is definitely fun to watch and just thought you sports fans might like to check it out

heres some video

i wonder how he'll do against dlh. i really have no idea how it will go down, mainly because pacquiao is relentless and has a lot of heart. all in all, i think it will be more competitive than a lot of people think.

Manny is one of the best fighters i've ever seen. relentless and very skilled although awkward. I think he's moving up way too much in weight to fight DLH and because he's such a tough nut he might take a decent beating cause he's never felt power as big as DLH's.

There is no fighter in the world that has gotten the raw end of a decision more than Emmanuel Augustus.

I love Pacquiao, I'm not sure he'll beat De La Hoya thought.

I'm looking forward to the Hatton-Mallgnaggi fight too. I hope Hatton rips his face off.

if there is one thing that we can't argue, it's the fact that this is one of the biggest fights in recent boxing history. Both fighters will be a lot more wealthy after everything has been said and done.

as far as what is at stake:
if Pacquiao loses, a lot of people will criticize his management for accepting the match considering the weight Pacquiao had to reach for.
if De La Hoya loses, a lot of boxing experts are saying that it might exclude him from being in the Hall of Fame.

I love Freddie Roach, I think he's one of the best trainers out there and he gives Pacquiao an advantage right there but he is undersized. De La Hoya has such a huge advantage with his size but he hasn't trained in six years and he was already being criticized as not being able to finish his last three fights before that.

It is going to have to come down to who has the most heart and when it comes to that, I'll bet on Pacquiao.

I don't know what is going to happen but this could either help the popularity of the Sweet Science or really, really hurt it.\

on a side note: I think for someone in the twilight of his career, it's pretty fucking cowardly of DLH to fight someone smaller than him...but some would argue that anyone who wants to fight Pacquiao is no coward.

it's definitely the two biggest names in boxing right now. and yeah, the money from the fight is going to be huge, the arena sold out so fast too, as if it was a u2 concert or something.

however, what does it say about the current state of boxing that so many boxing fans keep talking about mayweather as if his return was imminent or as if he hadn't retired? he's still considered the best current fighter by many fans, they keep mentioning him in their fights they would most like to see, etc. i don't think he has even indirectly hinted at a comeback as of today has he?

DLH will be HOF'er either way. His box ooffice gross is enough to get him there.

I'm not sure what's going to happen in this fight but i'll be rooting hard for Manny.

same here. it's very unlikely it will be a boring fight. more uncertain is how long it will last.

i've been watching those. i find it funny when oscar's trying to talk tough. it just seems a bit forced. "there WILL be a knockout (suspenseful pause)".

if manny makes it past the first few rounds, i think he's got a very good chance to win. his work rate alone tends to impress, and oscar seems to fade on the second half, even more so at this point.

De La Hoya seems like a total tool after watching that.

De La Hoya is a tool but he seels tickets and is the biggest draw in boxing right now. I'm just hoping Pac shows the grit he always shows although he has never faced power like Oscar's. I think he can win but i wouldn't bet on it.

You should get $30 for winning, at least that's what the odds say.

Everyone talked about De La Hoya's power when he fought Mayweather and it didn't matter. De La Hoya should not be the favorite, he is not a great fighter anymore. He will get his ass kicked.

Post subject:  Re: Manny "The Pacman" Pacquiao (Boxing)

but mayweather's defense and mobility were (are?) way, way better than manny's. manny likes to stand and throw punches like crazy, his defense has improved, but it's still his main weakness. oscar, just by being a naturally bigger guy, should punch with enough power to hurt manny.

we'll see soon enough i guess.
