Growing up, he was my idol -- i have about 50 of his cards, his jersey, posters....all of the stereotypical things a little leaguer would have of his idol. But I've never seen a superstar fall so far from glory after his retirement. Still, I hope he comes out OK.

I always thought he was a nice guy, what did i miss?
you missed a whole helluva lot.
SI had a very big story on Puckett a while back about how he is basically scum off the feild and then there was the whole sexual assault thingy
How is this different than most professional athletes?
most professional athletes don't get whole stories written about their misdeeds in a national magazine. Only a select few get that treatment...
Damn...if Kirby dies, there will be only one black person left in Minnesota.

(If I remember correctly...) The thing that cracks me up was when he was arrested for Domestic Violence and in his mug shot he is trying to close one of his eyes like it is swollen shut. It was obviously bruised, but he was trying to make it look worse than it was.
if his eye looked funny, it was likely due to the glaucoma that ended his career.

Shocking given his weight problems.
How much effect does weight have on a stroke? It has some... I don't know... I didn't think it was that significant.
Well, high blood pressure and heart disease, which are generally common among the obese, are high risk factors for stroke. I don't know his medical history but im sure this isn't much of a shock.

In five years, when you get laid and grow up, you should go back and read some of these posts and if you've turned into a decent person you'll realize how much of an asshole you sound like right now
