I don't think getting the magazine also gets you an Insider subscription. But if it does, then let me know because I get the magazine.

it does, but there is a catch: you have to register for insider, using a code on your mag label, BUT they make you agree to have your subscription automatically renewed when it runs out. gotta give them your cc info and everything.

I get it only because I pay for Insider. Probably the worst sports magazine I have ever gotten in my life and I have gotten many different ones over the years.

Well that's a load of crap. My brother has a subscription and I just tried to do it w/ his info. What sucks is that he JUST renewed his subscription last month.

Jimmac, since you subscribe could you copy and past the article?

Just curious...what do you dislike about it so much?

Everything. The size of it, the fonts they use, the writing is poor, It seems to be out to further sensationalize players instead of writing good stories and reporting. Basically it is SportsCenter in print, which stinks.

I prefer SI.

SI is too feature-heavy to me, I just got my first issue of ESPN Mag from my Insider subscription. The Sporting News is a pretty good one which I've considered subscribing to, I loved it in 1980s when it came in the newsprint format.

Yeah, I get ESPN the magazine only because I am an Insider (only for Fantasy Football stuff). Anyway, that magazine is terrible. It is full of poor writing and stories about swimmers and minor league baseball players and things you couldn't possibly care less about. SI absolutely blows it out of the water.

I have to admit, I stopped reading SI about 5-6 years ago, I looked forward to it every week for years but it really started to suck. Maybe it got better again, I should pick an issue up and see. I get the sporting news and love it.

Sports Illustrated is pretty good. I don't read it cover to cover or anything, but what I do read is usually well-written and relevant. I could do without the NASCAR coverage, but that is usually pretty minimal.

I'm the same way. I use to get SI and TSN and it was too overwhelming. They would just pile up and some issues never got read. I was a big fan of TSN though. I always thought they had great baseball coverage. Plus it only comes every other week so it's a little bit of a lighter load.

Thanks

Same here as well. I get SI now and I barely ever read it. Never read through an entire issue. Only subscribed to it because my nephew was selling subs for school. The deep stories never really interest me either. I'm looking more for information about the teams I follow and I can get that on the net.

I do miss TSN from back in the day (loved the newsprint style). I may go back to that again at some point.
