I'm sure this one will get so heated it could go in the N&D forum, but we'll leave it here for now.
Simples Question:
Which is better?
I might chime in later.

Football: College (I probably say this because my college team is awesome and my pro team has sucked for the past decade as well as my dislike of the NFL)
Basketball: Pro (Better athletes, better flow to the game, better officiating...hard to believe, I know)

Personally, i've changed over to college sports within the last 6 years. I like the recruiting process, see kids grow, see them get better, change positions, legendary coaches, fight songs, tradition. I guess going to college made that change...hehe
I don't care for pro sports anymore. Although I like seeing how my favorite college players do in the pros.

football: if i had to choose-college. not really into football. i'd probably be a LOT more into college if it wasn't for the BCS.
basketball: hands down, college. just seems like more of a team game as opposed to the "one on one"/"two vs. two" strategies that seem to go on in the NBA. but i guess i am biased because i personally don't think anything is better than march madness. i do agree that the nba has the better athletes, but i just prefer the coaching aspects of the college game a lot more.
soccer: college, unless it's the world cup. just because i played in college, so it's fun to follow. just wish it was televised a little more.
baseball: pros. nothing like october baseball.
i guess that covers the major sports that i personally follow.

Football: Pro, college is fun as hell to watch but I like the NFL much better.
Basketball: College by a landslide, there is nothing about the pro game that I like better than the college game.

College football is my favorite sport, and I hate the NFL. I usually like the NBA better than NCAA basketball, but like someone else said, it can be frustrating if it's two teams with only one really good player.

Football: Pro. Following the Eagles and T.O. these past few years has been to much fun to not admit I loved seeing T.O. get dropped. Plus, it does have the "SUPER" Bowl. Basketball: College. Lately, I've really been into the March Madness. I'm actually begining to think that the NHL is overtaking the NBA in popularity. But we'll save that for another thread.

I like college for the fact there aren't players like T.O. Typically, ever single player is playing their hearts out for the love of the game and the school they are representing. In both NFL and NBA, players typically care more about the money. Instead of having some sort of loyalty, a player has usually played for 3 teams by their 5th year in which ever league they are in while also looking for somewhere else that will give them more money. I can't say college sports are perfect though, because sometimes players are given special treatment that leads them to picking a college and a few only care about getting to the next level, but it would be hard to say that it gets anywhere to the level of the pros.

yeah I kinda forgot about the "specaial treatment" you're talking about for a second. A lot of players (JJ Reddick, Lebron James, Adam Morrison, Matt Leinart
) were either offered money and turned it down (like Lebron) or took it. I highly doubt that ALL those players are truly "men of their words", as in playing for no money. I mean look at the discrimination against lesbians by that one head coach in the college game. By no means is it perfect, but I do agree with lefty that it is more "true" than the pro game.

i cannot believe 3 people have picked pro basketball over college basketball. That flat out shocks me. There is no bigger difference in watchability in sports. College basketball is great, the nba is dreadful.

football: College, but not by much. The crowds are much better and the players aren't pompous assholes just in it for the money. Plus you have all sorts of styles of offenses, legendary coaches who've been with the same team for 20 years, you have teams like Alabama where football is god and it's the only sport that means anything. I love the NFL but college is more pure. Get rid of the BCS and it will be ever better.
basketball: college...not even close. March Madness is the greatest 3 weeks in sports
