Nah, there has been two RM Sports threads that are relevant throughout the history of RM. And this one is one of them, the other being NYYankees suck. ;)

Sad thing is, they should be 6-2.

Besides the fact the Al Davis is crazy and senile, is there a logical reason the Raiders got rid of Cable? They finished at 8-8 and 6-0 in the division for crying out loud. Thats pretty good for the Raiders.

Sorry, I had to make an executive decision on this one, because I was going to say the exact same thing in this thread. Long live Al Davis.

the only excusable reason for this would be having to promote Jackson to head coach in order to keep him in Oakland. I'm still not sure that I like it.

What's even weirder is that Al allowed Jackson to interview for the job across the Bay. You think if he was serious about retaining him, he wouldn't have let that happen.

It is Al and I don't see him being that gracious to the Niners without having Jackson locked up. But again, it is Al so who really knows. He's made a lot of stupid decisions, but if he doesn't have Jackson locked up, this will be the worst one.

You're not a true ex-Raiders head coach until you file a grievance!

Cable's grievance seeks return of $120,000 in fines

ALAMEDA, Calif. — Former Raiders coach Tom Cable filed a grievance to recover $120,000 that Oakland fined him during the final year of his contract. A person familiar with the fines spoke to The Associated Press on Sunday on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation. ESPN first reported the story.

The person did not say why the Raiders withheld the money from Cable. ESPN reported owner Al Davis was upset that the Raiders lost two days of organized team activities in June for violating NFL rules.

The grievance eventually will be heard by an arbitrator appointed by commissioner Roger Goodell.

Raiders senior executive John Herrera and NFL spokesman Greg Aiello declined comment.

Actually, the way Al Davis explained it in his press conference, he might very well have a legit reason for firing him.

Still, the guy clearly looks like he just left a mausoleum. The pic is not for the squeamish:

Skeletor

Seriously, the league needs to step in here and do something. After listening to that press conference and many before that over the last few years; this guy has no business running and NFL team.

The funny thing is, despite his being a bit wacky and his own man when it comes to judging talent, I can't disagree with his points in this article.

Hue Jackson is probably a better choice going foward than Tom Cable. If they ever find consistancy, they do have talent on that team.

There was some talk of Calvin Johnson. But you can take a look at Calvin up at Detroit. How many games did they win this year, Detroit, do you know? Six? Yeah. But up until now, Calvin hadn't done anything for them. He had been eulogized, but he hadn't made a lot of indelible impression on the won and lost.
