he should lose the award as well as USC losing any money made on last seasons championship game run. Hey Umass was stripped of their final four appearance after camby was found guilty of something similiar.
HE HAS TO BE THE DUMBEST GUY ON EARTH... why would you mess with something like this knowing you'll be making millions upon millions a year later.

i saw a tidbit on SC last night, and bush couldnt really go into details, but he did say his family has been looking at new houses in the area since he will be making a shitload of moolah in the next couple of weeks.
the fact of the matter is, the guy who owns the lease was never compensated in any way by reggie bush, ie signed with him or the company he represented, so there was really nothing illegal, from what i have read/heard

Is any of this stuff supposed to affect his draft eligibility?

none at all, but i think everyone clamoring for his college eligbility to be revoked isnt looking at the full picture. there was no benefit gained by his family living there. the guy did not land him as a personal client or a client for his company, so basically no impropriatries occured

That's how I think it will turn out, it's been more like since last September, but I think they were probably just deffering payment until reggie came down with the big contract.
Honestly I don't know why it's a big deal. You are already professional when you come to college, they are paying you to represent the school and no where near what many of these kids are bringing in to the NCAA. If some agent wants to speculate by buying your mom a house whether there is an expectation you will sign with them or not so be it, nothing was a competitive advantage in this situation. None of this made Reggie faster or better. I don't know why the NCAA even keeps these kinds of hypocritical rules intact because they sell their brand like crazy.
USC should not be penalized, Reggie Bush should not be penalized.
Hell professionals are in the olympics now.
If you want amateurs go watch rec sports. College Sports are huge money, pro sports even more, it's time to end this sharade that college football players are amateurs and should be treated like children unable to decide for themselves how to market thier image and likeness.
Every big school in the nation that does well has violations if you look deep enough. Hell look at all the premiere players that go to _______ military easy grades academy for a year before they transfer with miraculous grades right into Underwater basket weaving and criminology degrees. Most College Athletes do go for a degree, I get it, but for the best of them, it's just another version of the minor leagues. Colleges allow it because of the money they make on the players.
That's what makes Jay Cutler so rare. He is an immense talent and he chose the education that Vanderbilt could provide over the exposure he could get at Texas or Georgia or Tennessee or USC, Notre Dame etc.

Since the NCAA is different from the legal arena, I'd say they could find plenty of things wrong with someone paying for an athlete's family to live in a big ol' house closer to campus.
It won't affect his draft eligibility because the NFL and NCAA are 2 different things.
Basically, the NCAA has many of its own fucked up bylaws that they enforce completely independently.

seems to me that having a place to live is a tangible benefit. If a booster had leased the house, the NCAA would be all over this...right? So does the NCAA differentiate between WHERE the benefit is coming from? Doesn't seem right that he's not allowed to receive something from a booster, but he is able to get a house from someone who might end up being his agent.

The problem for the NCAA is that these "perks" are used to lure top recruits to schools. As far as the house thing goes, Bush's family is flat out stupid for doing it while he is playing. They are lucky that it didn't come out during the season.
Anyway, OSU just paid the price for this sort of nonsense. HBO Real Sports just did a story on it. The problem is the agents (greedy scum lawyers) want to latch onto these kids and represent them if and when they go pro. They do anything they can to get an advantage over someone else.
Bottom line is the NCAA has all these rules but doesn't really do a good job preventing the rules from being broken. We always hear the big stories after the fact and when some independent entity does the investigating.

so your logic is that it's ok to bribe people as long as the bribes don't result in you getting what you set out after?
