http://www.newsday.com/sports/nyc-yank1 ... -headlines

as this article states, the Mets had the same "issue" with the city.

Interesting how espn.com failed to mention that.

Either way, this is hardly big news - especially on the day the Giambi testimony is leaked.

The Yanks do plenty right...they've locked up Kevin Brown for a mere $15mil for next year and Jason Giambi locked in at about $17 mil per season for the next 4 yrs...bargains.

True, I really think George is loosing it. He better sell the team before he goes bankrupt.

So this means he can't go bankrupt?

there has been evidence that the Yankees could afford a $300 million dollar payroll if they wanted.

It will approach that this coming season, but he can spend all he wants, it wont buy him his franchises 27th ring.

that may be true, but it's unrelated to whether he may or may not go bankrupt.

Anyone can go bankrupt, what is your point? Do you really think he is going to bankrupt the Yankees? Do you think the Redsox will be able to buy their 2nd championship in the last 87 years?

No, our TEAM will win it agian. You see this is the reason the Yankees did not, and will not win it, because they are not a team. Just a bunch of overpaid, bitch slapping, cheaters.

The Redsox payroll was higher than every team but one. Look in the mirror, they bought it.

The Yankees payroll was 58 million more than the sox. Looks like we caught a bargain.

lets see where they both are at the end of this season. There were a few teams that won a WS (97 Marlins, 01 D-Backs) and then could not maintain it. It costs more money to keep the guys you want and add to the team. How much more was the Redsox payroll than the Cards?

I always get a kick out of people who talk like this. Do you also make ridiculous comments like "we're gonna win", or "we're looking good this year"?

News flash: YOU'RE NOT ON THE TEAM! lol.

Um, some may say that. Others may say it was their lack of starting pitching and the fact that Posada didn't throw out Dave Roberts. But why let reality ruin your theory?

It's pretty funny (and sad) how you compare the Sox payroll to the ONE team that had a higheer payroll, and completely ignore the other 29 teams who's payroll was lower.

Didnt say I was on the team, I said "our Team", which would mean the fans of the Red Sox.

but you might be right, the Yankees do just suck.
