It was fun having Flutie back in his hometown area, he provided New England sports with some great memories. It was great being at the Razor for the dropkick on New Years :D

So long friend

Based on his size he had no business lasting as long as he did. I always liked him.

I loved him when he was with the NJ Generals. Him and Herschel and Mo Carthon.

Oh man, that is the old Super Tecmo Bowl player profile page. I would recognize that anywhere. God I loved that game.

i always wonder what he couldve done given a good chance from the get-go in the NFL... maybe the CFL made him that much better of a QB, but i wish he wouldve gotten a fair shake before heading north of the border

Why is he retiring? He could play another 5 years.

Flutie became a giant douchebag toward the end of his tenure in Buffalo, but I'll look back on him relatively fondly because he singlehandedly resurrected the team for a year, when it looked like the Bills leaving Buffalo was imminent. I'll always remember that sweep to the left against Jacksonville for the touchdown. That started the magic.

And this:

I was playing Tecmo Bowl from 1993 two weeks ago. Had 100 yards rushing on a lot of end-arounds with Sterling Sharpe. Also, 200 yards receiving in same game. Love when the screen comes up to show when a player has eclipsed 100 yards rushing, receiving or 300 yards passing. :D

Flutie got completely robbed of starting in the playoffs against the Titans that year(tghe music city miracle game). One of the biggest bullshit moves by a coach in the history of QB changes. No wonder he was a pompous dick at times. I would have quit the team after that bullshit. I remember it well cause the Colts were 13-2 that year going into their last game against Buffalo. Indy duidn't need the game and rested everybody. Rob Johnson comes in and has a good game against 2nd and 3rd stringers and is given the stating job the next week in the playoffs even though Flutie won 10 games for the team. What a fucking joke that was

Rob Johnson didn't lose that playoff game. I think the Bills go to the Super Bowl that year if they cover a simple kickoff.

That's true, but you can still understand why Flutie was bitter, he got them to the playoffs twice and got benched for Rob Johnson.

Flutiemania was long before my time, but I loved him when he was with the Bills. I'll always wonder what would've become of him if he got the chance in the pros that guys like Harrington and Boller have gotten.

prime example of Flutie not getting a fair shake...

think the Bears wouldve preferred to have spent the past 15 years with Dougie at the helm or the other 28 inept qb's theyve had back there?

Ever since that move i have considered Wade Phillips one of the worst head coaches of all-time.

I was referring to the first wave of it when he was with Boston College. He's the biggest college sports star this region ever had by a mile.
