i'd say the mets, jets and isles are more the down to earth, we're your local guys team and we see you in the supermarket sometimes, while the other teams are more revered in the grand scheme of things and aren't as easily accesible.

being in CT and very close the NYC, I see the division usually breaks down by location. Most people in FFLD County do the Yanks/Giants?Rangers thing. People on or closer to schlong island do the mets/jets/isles.
I think its mostly geography. If you live in LI or Queens its easy to get to Shea where both the Jets and Mets used to both play. If you live in NJ its real easy to get to Yankee stadium and MSG and of course Giants stadium.

I have no idea what any of this means.

It just seems like that's how people tend to align, from an outsider's perspective. Any truth to this? Thoughts?
it seems like that sometimes. I think it was more true years ago when the Yanks/Giants shared a stadium and the Mets/Jets did the same. Nowadays, I think it's more random. I mean, most hockey fans on Long Island are Islander fans...but there's a million Yankee/Giants fans on Long Island as well.

That is the way the marker in the sand goes. If you were born on Long Island, your probably a mets fan, the jets also played in queens previously to being in Jersey, and we have the proud franchise of the New York islanders here So all these boundaries get passed down from generation to generation. So it goes that way.

the true fans in my neighborhood seems to be a split between the baseball teams but more seem to root for the Jets...not being born here, I have always liked both the yankees and mets but never cared for either football or hockey franchise...
Most do align that way. I happen to be Jets/Yankees which oges against the trend.
I know quite a few like that...but I seem to know more Mets/Giants fans for some reason. Maybe it's because the Giants were the only team for a while and were extremely popular during the 50s/60's before Namath came to town.
