Could there be a more overrated award in sports? Gino Torretta won the Heisman for God's sake . . . he wasn't the best player on his team, let alone the best player in the country.

I think Colin Cowherd said this exact same thing yesterday, and I agree.

I'm going with Leinart. I don't think Bush or Peterson have a chance. The Heisman voters love their upperclassmen. Hell, Marshall Faulk should have won when he was a soph and he had a way better year than either Bush or Peterson.

Hey, 'herd said that too!
I admit it, I listen to sports radio sometimes at work!

Faulk absolutely deserved it. He was a madman.
who won it that year?
anyway, he probably did deserve it, but he also played for san diego st., which, legitimately or no, hurt his chances.
And he didn't have a much better year either. Peterson ran for 200 more yards than Faulk did in 92, and over 400 more than in 91.

but he's an upperclassman. that's what i was looking for.
and i know white's a senior, but i'm not going with any OU tool.
This is White's third time around as a senior. At least theoretically. The guy should have a doctorate by now. He had a better year than Leinhart, but my question is why is being an upper classman important?

they tend to give the heisman to upperclassmen before they would freshmen or sophomores... if it's a close race.

I would give it to Alex Smith. I explained why on another board already. He's the perfect college QB. Too bad a playoff would have showed how good he ran that offense. I don't think any of their games were decided by less than 10 points and it mostly had to do with him. He was more of an MVP than any of these other guys
