At the Reds/White Sox game on Saturday night. It was awesome. 2nd MLB game we've been to in 8 years and I think maybe the 5th game in my dad's lifetime (he's 52).

Juan Uribe hit it and what was funny was that my dad was rockin' a Reds hat so of course everyone was chanting "Throw it back!" and when he didn't they all booed the shit outta him. I was laughin' my ass off. He had to keep it though. My brother is a huge WSox fan and he gave it to him to give to my brother's 5 month old.

Anyway, I thought it was pretty sweet so I thought I'd share.

Congrats, too bad the White Sox just crushed the Reds this whole weekend.

Here's a great story:

I was at a Jays game with my buddy like 4 or 5 years ago. We were sitting in the outfield, just above the bullpen. Anyway in the 9th inning we are kind of hanging over the wall watching a reliever warm up (can't remember who, might have been Bob File). So the blue jays get the final out, so he doesn't need to warm up anymore, as he's leaving there were some kids watching the bullpen as well beside up and one kid is calling down to him to throw up the ball. File throws the ball straight up for the kid, and the kid misses. So File throws it up again, just as the ball is about to reach the waiting kid's hands, my buddy notices it (he wasn't really watching the whole thing play out) and reachs across and grabs the ball.

The kid looked stunned and my friend turns to me and is like, "Look what I got!" meanwhile Bob File was down there shaking his head and cursing my buddy.

Hilarious. I remember seeing something like that on sportscenter where a guy jumped in front of this kid to catch a ball. The whole section booed him so I think he finally gave in and gave the ball to the kid.

when I was 15 I was at Shea for our annual Dodgers/Mets game, only this time instead of the company box seats we had tix from a friend, which were in the green Mezz. section.

so in the 8th inn, me and my pal Mike wander to the way corner of the OF seats overhanging the Mets bullpen. John Franco was warming up and we kept pestering the guy to throw us a ball. As he was entering the game, he turned up to us and pointed and threw us the ball, all the way up where we were.

however some asshole grown up literally barrelled over us and a little boy who was standing there too and grabbed the ball with his glove.

I hope that guy is dead now :(

oh and Dante Bichette hit me in the leg with a foul ball, also at shea

My bro was at a Baylor game (he went there for law school) and this old man was about to catch a foul ball. The ball bounced off the old man's head and fell into the lower deck, where my bro caught it. The old man gave him dirty looks for the rest of the game, and my bro would just hold up the ball and smile. We're a family of assholes. 8)

summer of '02. phillies vs. astros.

phillies have a 5-2 lead in the 9th and give up 3 runs to tie it. bottom of the 9th with 2 out we send in ricky ledee to pinch it. 3-2 count and he drives it over the right field wall right into my chest. that fucker hit me like a ton of bricks. i had a bruise on my chest for 5 days. didnt drop it and the phils win 6-5.

i actually called the vet the next day to see if he wanted the ball and they said i would get a call back. i never did.

Let me first say I'm a Kansas City Royals fan  , and I hate the St. Louis Cardinals, a few years ago, the Foo fighters were playing on a sunday evening in St. louis. That afternoon, we went to the Pirates-Cardinals game. Now, I don't have a feeling one way or another about the Pirates, but I despise the Cardinals enough that my friend and I each bought Pirates pennants and were waving them around Busch stadium. We were in dead centerfield in the 2nd row of the bleachers. Getting yelled at the entire game. Then in the 9th inning the Pirates, Craig Wilson hits a homerun right to me! I caught it turned around, my friend and I were jumping up and down waving are Pirate flags, while the entire bleachers area booed us to no end. It was absolutely awsome! (not as awsome as watching them leave after game 4 of the 2004 W.S., and watching the Red Sox celebrate on there field!)

I also caught on foul ball in Kansas City from Ray Lankford (another bum Cardinal) once.

I was seen botching both a HR and a catch of a foul ball on WGN in the same season. In my defense, though, they were both screamers (and I didn't spill my beer). I must have had 15 messages on my voicemail rubbing it in when I got home after the games.

That is all.

One good thing (the only good thing?) about being an Expos fan was the ability to get a few balls each season if you put your back into it (show up for BP and sit in the LF bleachers for games).

The absolute highlight of my ball-catching career was catching a Ryne Sandberg line drive grand slam sometime during his last season. I was wearing my friend's glove for some reason and made a running back-handed catch in the aisle. I was so excited, I couldn't figure out why the crowd was booing like crazy. It was the top of the ninth and those were the winning runs... ah. No, I didn't throw it back.

Also caught an FP Santangelo foul ball during a game that somehow bounced right into my hands, and a handfull of balls in BP as well. Eventually, I just started giving them to kids nearby.

At the met-yanks game a few years back at shea I got one. It the first game clemens pitched after he hit piazza in the head. So the game was amazing b/c the mets kicked the shit out of the yanks, and shawn estes hit a homer off clemens. In the 9th inning, Ron Coomer fouled one back to me in the front row of the green mezz seats, and I reached up and grabbed it on the fly. Got a standing O, and I was hammered at the time. I was damn proud of myself.

Thats awesome....Here is my unusual story...in the summer of '88 in Cleveland at the old Municipal Stadium, the Tribe was playing the Blue Jays. Me and my dad were out in the old outfield stands, practically by ourselves. Cory Snyder crushed a ball that went by our section, over the left field wall and into what looked a tunnel in the 'bowels' of the back of the stadium. An inning or so later, a stadium worker came walking up to us with a concession stand cup....he looked at me and said...'wanna soda?' Before I could answer that question, he tipped the cup a little and showed me that there was a ball in the cup and smiled. I said 'sure!' It was cool because it was obviously a pristine ball except for a huge, violent looking looking scuff mark from where Snyder jacked it. I still have that ball.

Two years ago at a phillies game, I went to go get a hot dog in like the 4th inning or something and was on my way back down to my seats. the phillie phanatic was on the steps on which I was heading to to get to my seats. His back was turned to me, and then when I came up close to him he turned around real fast and hit the hot dog right out of my hands with his nose about 10 seats to our right. It was the funniest thing I ever saw. Me and him ended up practically crying on each other we were laughing so hard. I ended up getting to be on the big tv and my whole family got free hot dogs for the rest of the game. :D
