WBZ radio is reporting that it appears Pedro Martinez will be leaving the Red Sox to take a four-year, $50 million deal with the New York Mets. Nothing is official and neither the Red Sox or the Mets have made an announcement.
Supposedly an announcement will be made by the end of the day. First Wells and now this!?
too many years.........but I think Pedro will DOMINATE in Shea.

Supposedly if this deal goes through with Pedro, the Sox are trying to work out a deal with a third team that would ship off Hanley Ramirez and Arroyo to the undisclosed third team in return for some top prospects who would be shipped off to Oakland for Hudson. If any of these rumors are true and the Sox end up with Hudson, Renteria and Clement (whom they are supposedly in negotiations with) then I'd gladly say goodbye to Pedro and Cabrera. I guess we'll just have to see!

Still, that's pretty shitty that Pedro went to the Mets for the extra $500K. The 4th guaranteed year is certainly huge, but I wouldn't have been surprised if the Sox offered that to him eventually. We'll miss you, buddy.

Yeah but look what Burnitz did this year in Denver Castilla was a monster (at home) as well.
At least attendence in Denver now says they are starting to understand what real baseball is....until they get REAL pitching, we may not have a chance.....

Pedro's signing is all over major news outlets right now.
Boston better be glad they won in '04, they need to go HARD after Pavano now. Time to overpay or get their asses cleaned in '05.

Pavano will sign with NY
and I'm not happy about that at all.

me either
Everyone said the same thing about Javier Vasquez last year. Looked how that turned out. Once Pavano strings together two good years in a row, then I'll be pissed. But until then . . .

Unfortunately the Rockies have to go after veterans because their farm system is pathetic. The Rockies have just had a long string of bad luck with injuries and whathaveyou (Hampton, Neagle's injuries and his bj, Wilson the last 2 years, Walker, etc.). I can't imagine how worse this team is going to be this year. The infield stinks, the outfield is terrible, and pitching is average at best. Its going to be another long year at Coors Field. See you at Breckenridge Brewery before the game.
