ehn. i don't like baez much, but he is an upgrade. and aybar is basically betemit a couple years ago, so i guess it's about as much as i could have hoped for.
wilson betemit. used to be one of the top prospects in all of baseball when he was about 17. he's 24 now. he hit a wall early this decade, but started playing well again a couple years ago. last year he was excellent when chipper jones was hurt and he's been good again this year. he has a lot of power potential. i think he'll be really good eventually. but the braves got quite a bit back. aybar has a chance to be as good as betemit at least.

see you in another life, wb.
thanks for the info on this guy, I had no idea who we just got.
Baez has been terrible this year for the Dodgers, but then again the entire bullpen seems to have been cursed for much of the season. He is a former all star, so there IS something there with Baez.
Aybar is one of those guys who was highly touted and may have been over hyped (typical dodger prospect). He can and has played 3B and 2B, and theres always an argument over whether the guy will hit for power or be a singles hitter. so far hes shown flashes of both.
I dont know what this trade does for our 3B prospect Andy LaRoche. I was hoping to see him start the year next yr in LA starting at 3rd. I hope this doesnt block him from the big club, can BEteit play other positions?
he can play other positions, but not very well. he's a bit wooden at both shortstop and second. i wouldn't be surprised to see the dodgers move him to another team for prospects, actually. if not, the trade is kind of weird on their part.

it really is, because they have LaRoche in AAA who they keep telling us is the Dodgers version of David Wright....I honestly dont know what our GM has up his sleeve...
good luck with Baez, he blew 7 saves for us early in the yr but kinda settled down. I hope he regains his form in ATL, hes not a bad guy.
