I started a thread about the movie on him coming out but haven't gotten any responses in the A&E thread. I was hoping some Philly people here would be more interested. I finished the book yesterday and brought it over to my dads house a little while ago. He said he never heard of the guy which baffled me cause he's such a huge football fan. Just curious if this guy is as much of a Philly hero as the book made him out to be. I know how passionate they are about football(which is why i love philly).

that's like saying "Rudy made one tackle, no big deal".
It's an interesting story to say the least. I hadn't heard about him until recently, but I'll probably check the movie out, although I'm not much of a Mark Whalberg fan.

am i missing out on some aspect of this? he tries out for the eagles, makes the team, and plays special teams for three years. i don't see what's so interesting about that, and i definitely won't watch the wahlberg film.

it's a nice story, but i dont even think of this guy as football hero. i'm sure his book is interesting though, what did you think of it club
the book was pretty good. It's an easy read and took me about 4 hours to finish it. I guess i really got into it since i've made 2 threads about this guy.

Well, he was 30 when he tried out. He only played one year of high school football. He was basically a huge Eagles fan with great speed and amazing determination and guts. The story is very similar to Rudy but at a much higher level. Plus this guy was 30 when he finally got a chance to try out for the team. When i was reading the book i guess i just put myself in his shoes and wondered how awesome that would be. It's not the greatest story but it's pretty damn close, at least for me. Plus he was a Philly guy and ended up playing for his favorite team on a whim.

I can't explain it but though i love sports i'm generally not interested in sports movies.

it would definitely be cool to get to play for your team, no question.

My dad used to talk about him when I was a kid. "The bartender who ended up playing for the Eagles" he would say. Basically would talk to me about him when I got down on myself and thought I wasn't good enough at something or didn't think I was good enough to try.
I haven't been to the movies in 5 years but am gonna go see Invinceable.

cool. I'm going Friday afternoon when nobody else is in the theatre. I hate going to crowded theatres. One of a thousand reasons why i won't be seeing Snakes on a Plane

That movie's going to have crowded theaters?
Apparently the crowd is why a lot of people enjoyed that movie. It's supposed to have a great atmosphere. It sounds pretty stupid to me but people i like really seemed to dig the whole scene. I wouldn't go see that movie if you paid for my weed, ticket, and popcorn.
