a new football league, set to debut in october playing thursdays and fridays, there will be four teams this year, six teams next. denny green, jim haslett, and jim fassel are confirmed coaches aside from the arena league, every pro football league has always folded (or merged with the nfl). how long will this one last?

They have a TV Contract with Versus.
Frankly. I'll be shocked if they play 1 game. If they make it 1 year that will be an incredible accomplishment but generally and usually this ends in abject failure.
This kind of thing happens because a few rich guys who want in on NFL money think they are smarter than everyone else... hey VEGAS and LA don't have teams...... let's have football there!!! Yawn.
The Arena league hasn't really folded, it's just on hiatus because they had a few people... namely Jerry Jones who tried to run those teams in the same manner they ran thier NFL teams.. Arena is a tiny niche sport with little corporate or broad reaching interest. It is a fun sport to watch up close next to the field for not much money. They got in trouble because they had an unsustainable business model. Arena also did not try and directly compete with the NFL. If the NBA, NHL, MLB can't compete... why would a nothing no name group with some has beens or felons somehow compete? XFL much?
ive always wanted the nfl to have some kind of poor man's equivalent to mlb's minor league system. i love the nfl more so seeing guys develop would be awesome. i know college football is kinda like that now, but its different. being able to talk about some of your organization's no-namers developing over the summer or whatever is a lot of fun. plus, when those guys get on the roster they're like heroes.

I completely agree. I once made up a rough of what such a minor league would consist of, which would take place of things like the ridiculous 45-man roster, as well as the practice squad.
There are so many "minor" leagues that really they fold, relocate, fold, relocate, fold relocate.
I mean there is a "minor" AFL league called the AIFA and Ogden, Utah just got a team.
I mean they aren't going to compete with NFL or the "major" leagues so they should try the same business model. But like someone has said in the earlier post, it's good to see a product up close but nothing will compete with the NFL.

assuming it survives this forthcoming year, the UFL will have a salt lake team next year
