I don't get it.

I think the NFL does a good job with picking the all-star team. They give the players a third, the coaches a third, and the fans a third of the vote. You don't end up with players like Vince carter and Ken Griffey Jr on the team even though they were hurt the whole year. once again...the NFL rules all

Roy Williams did though. Too bad Terrell won't be healthy enough to play on the same team as his father this February.

Exactly. They choose the Pro Bowl too damn early. And if it were up to me I wouldn't have the players, coaches, or fans pick the pro bowl players. The teams with the biggest city population will always win the fan vote and players and coaches will always tend to be biased. There should be an NFL committee that gets together AFTER the season is done and discusses all the choices and options of players. Then they discuss all the positions, what each player did to deserve a pro bowl roster spot and vote on it. Too many players that are inconsistent, injured, or just voted on because of name recognition always happen every year. The system for the pro bowl needs to be fixed. Football IS the greatest sport but I don't like pro bowl voting.

huh? if that were the case it would be all Jets and Giants players. I see players from Cinci, Indy, Buffalo, etc... That statement really has no merit

So name recognition has nothing to do with it? I doubt these players, fans, and coaches put a lot of thought and research into their picks.

I mean, I understand it's not perfect, but come on... Drew Bennett is the most valuable player on the Titans by far (without him Billy Volek is screwed), leads the AFC in recieving and he doesn't go? That's just not right

Of course name recognition is a factor but they only play 16 games a year. it isn't that hard to pick the players. Who besides Bennett do you think they left out that should be there? Personally i don't think bennett deserves it, he has had a good 6 game run but the AFC is loaded with receivers. Guys like Hines Ward do so much more than just catch touchdowns. They take into account his superb blocking and his other intangibles.

Without examining the list because I'm too damn tired, John Lynch and Champ Bailey do not deserve to be there over other players. Drew Bennett could replace Andre Johnson or Hines Ward.

Plus it bugs the hell out of me that the pro bowl isn't based on an entire season of play.

It's based on 14 games which is 7/8ths of a season. baseball, basketball and hockey don't even wait til half the season is over before they pick their all-stars

I don't care what other sports do. It doesn't mean the football system can't be better.
