**Here are the results from the UFC on FOX 2 event in front of an announced crowd of 17,425 and a live gate of $1,200,000 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois:
*Chris Camozzi over Dustin Jacoby by guillotine choke at 1:08 of Round 3
*Lavar Johnson over Joey Beltran by KO at 4:24 of Round 1
*Michael Johnson over Shane Roller by unanimous decision (29-28 all)
*Charles Oliveira over Eric Wisely by submission (calf slicer) at 1:43 of Round 1
*Cub Swanson over George Roop by TKO at 2:22 of Round 2
*Mike Russow over Jon Olav Einemo by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)
*Evan Dunham over Nik Lentz by TKO (doctor’s stoppage) at the end of Round 2
*Chris Weidman over Demian Maia by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
*Chael Sonnen over Michael Bisping by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)
*Rashad Evans over Phil Davis by unanimous decision (50-45 all)

**It was announced on the broadcast that Jon Jones will fight Rashad Evans for the Light Heavyweight Title on April 21st in Atlanta, Georgia barring any injuries and when it comes to these two you can never say for sure that fight is a guarantee.

**Just awesome:

**The overnight number has the show averaging 3,980,000 for the first show and 4,770,000 viewers in the second and dominating in the 18-49 demographic. These numbers are misleading at this time because the overnight number takes into account the entire country and all FOX affiliates at that time period and not figuring in the West Coast numbers so it will get a bump up in numbers when the actual rating is released.

**Here are the recipients of the $65,000 bonuses handed out following the show:
*Fight of the Night – Evan Dunham Vs Nik Lentz
*Knockout of the Night – Lavar Johnson
*Submission of the Night – Charles Oliveira

iirc, i had round 1 close, early part was sonnen but bisping won the latter half; 2 to bisping, 3 to sonnen. i really can't criticize the judge's call, except i am a bit confused on the 30-27.

Me too. I thought Sonnen won, but not every round.

**Loretta Hunt from Sports Illustrated reports that the peak rating for the UFC on FOX 2 special came after 10pm EST during the Rashad Evans Vs Phil Davis with 6,613,000 viewers.

**The preliminary card bouts from the UFC on FOX 2 show averaged 144,000 viewers on FUEL TV prior to the FOX card. There were six fights that aired on the FUEL portion headlined by Evan Dunham defeating Nik Lentz following a doctor’s stoppage in the second round.

**A letter from the Federal Trade Commission was sent out on Wednesday announcing that the FTC’s investigation into the UFC violating Section 7 of the Clayton Act or Section 5 of the FTC Act when the UFC’s parent company, Zuffa LLC, purchased Strikeforce last March and created a monopolistic industry and participated in any unfair or deceptive business practices.

**Imperial Athletics Coach Mike Van Arsdale appeared on ‘The MMA Show’ podcast with Mauro Ranallo on Monday and stated that due to personal issues that Rashad Evans had during his camp he only trained for the equivalent of four-weeks in preparation for Phil Davis this past Saturday.

**The opening odds for the Jon Jones Vs Rashad Evans fight are ridiculous with Jones a current 6:1 favourite.

**UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem will be appearing in court on February 21st on charges of female battery following an altercation on January 2nd at Wynn Las Vegas. Overeem is alleged to have pie faced a woman and causing her to stagger backwards. Overeem has not commented on the charges as of yet.

**Joe Rogan will be having Dana White on his podcast in the near future to discuss the UFC’s stance against piracy and why they have supported the SOPA and PIPA bills. A date has not been set but Rogan announced it on his show Tuesday.

i shoulda proofread that. L'il longer explanation:

FTC Closes Investigation of UFC Parent Company Zuffa
Feb 01, 2012
By Mike Whitman

The Federal Trade Commission has officially closed its ongoing investigation into the business dealings of Ultimate Fighting Championship parent company Zuffa, LLC.

The FTC’s Bureau of Competition began its nonpublic investigation of the company last year following Zuffa’s acquisition of Explosion Entertainment, the parent company of Strikeforce -- then the UFC’s biggest competitor.

According to a letter sent from FTC Secretary Donald S. Clark to Zuffa attorney Stephen Axinn, the FTC conducted the investigation to determine whether the acquisition violated either Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act, which discusses deceptive or unfair business practices, or Section 7 of the Clayton Act, which addresses monopolies.

“Upon further review of this matter, it now appears that no further action is warranted by the Commission at this time. Accordingly, the investigation has been closed,” Clark wrote. “This action is not to be construed as a determination that a violation may not have occurred, just as the pendency of an investigation should not be construed as a determination that a violation has occurred. The Commission reserves the right to take such further action as the public interest may require.”

Zuffa acquired Strikeforce and the promotion’s fighter roster last March. Since the purchase, three of Strikeforce’s five male champions made successful UFC debuts, as Nick Diaz, Dan Henderson and Alistair Overeem all earned Octagon victories last year. Currently, only lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez and middleweight titleholder Luke Rockhold hold Strikeforce gold, while titles in three weight categories remain vacant.

**Here are the results from the UFC 143 card held Saturday night in front of 10,040 fans at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas with a live gate of $2,300,000:
*Steven Thompson over Dan Stittgen by KO at 4:13 of Round 1
*Rafael Natal over Michael Kuiper by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
*Matt Riddle over Henry Martinez by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
*Matt Brown over Chris Cope by KO at 1:19 of Round 2
*Edwin Figueroa over Alex Caceres by split decision (28-27, 27-28, 28-27)
*Dustin Poirier over Max Holloway by mounted triangle-armbar at 3:23 of Round 1
*Ed Herman over Clifford Starks by rear-naked choke at 1:43 of Round 2
*Renan Barao over Scott Jorgensen by unanimous decision (30-27 all)
*Josh Koscheck over Mike Pierce by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
*Fabricio Werdum over Roy Nelson by unanimous decision (30-27 all)
*Carlos Condit over Nick Diaz by unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 48-47) to become the Interim Welterweight Champion

**Here are the recipients of the $65,000 bonuses handed out following UFC 143:
*Fight of the Night – Fabricio Werdum Vs Roy Nelson
*Knockout of the Night – Steven Thompson
*Submission of the Night – Dustin Poirier

**Following the main event Nick Diaz told the crowd during his post fight interview with Joe Rogan that he was probably going to retire and was upset with the decision feeling he pressed the action throughout and should have won. Condit out landed Diaz throughout the fight but Diaz was the aggressor however not initiating with his usual pace on the feet and Condit got out of trouble when against the cage and picked apart at Diaz with low leg kicks and jabs and made for a close fight but not one anyone watching would dispute the outcome of.

**The biggest controversy on the show was during the bantamweight bout between Edwin Figueroa and Alex ‘Bruce Leroy’ Caceres. During the first round Caceres went for an inside leg kick and sent Figueora to the floor with a low blow that sounded horrific and received a warning from official Herb Dean. In the second round another accidental low blow occurred by Caceres and he was deducted two-points by Dean and made the different in the fight as two judges awarded Caceres only Round 2 and 3 and therefore with the deduction lost the fight while the third judge gave Caceres all three rounds and had him winning 28-27. At issue was that the low blows were not intentional and are a part of the game but the point deduction is justified or guys won’t take warnings with any severity but two-points is ridiculous. There is no precedent and there are examples of fighters being hit low numerous times in a fight where no points are deducted so it’s a case of fighters having no idea what the rules are in a fight with zero consistency between officials and calls. Secondly in the Josh Koscheck Vs Mike Pierce fight there was a warning for Koscheck measuring Pierce with his fingers and risking an eye poke and then later in the fight when Koscheck actually did poke him in the eye there was no point deduction at all. There needs to be a black and white outline of what a warning constitutes point wise and what an intentional foul and blatant foul constitutes in writing so people are not guessing based on the official in the ring and rules changing from fight to fight because in both cases it could have resulted in a different winner in the fight.

**Carlos Condit’s agent Malki Kawa was a guest on MMAjunkie Radio Saturday and said Condit would be willing to fight again before Georges St-Pierre returns (tentatively set for November) and it’s not as if UFC is risking a big fight to let Condit defend the Interim Title so I don’t see why not and could get the winner of Jake Ellenberger and Diego Sanchez, who fight February 15th at the UFC on FUEL 1 event.

**Dana White stated during the post fight press conference that Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen have verbally agreed to fight this June in Brazil but no date or venue have been announced.

**Josh Koscheck noted after the fight he had a tough camp and will not be training with AKA any longer and will be based out of Fresno rather than San Jose in the future. This comes in the wake of BJJ coach Dave Camarillo leaving AKA recently. Dana White was openly discussing a possible fight between Koscheck and Nick Diaz (very unlikely Diaz will not be back) for later this year and also said he might be able to finally make the Koscheck Vs Jon Fitch fight with Koscheck leaving AKA.

**They were never shown on camera but it was noted that Torrie Wilson and boyfriend Alex Rodriguez were at UFC 143 Saturday night.

**Lorenzo Fertitta went on Twitter Thursday night and started taking a bunch of questions from his followers and revealed that the Junior Dos Santos Vs Alistair Overeem fight for the UFC Heavyweight Title will take place May 26th in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and the Dominick Cruz Vs Urijah Faber Bantamweight Title fight following TUF 15 will take place July 7th in Las Vegas at the same venue.

**A middleweight bout between Rousimar Palhares and Alan Belcher has been added to the UFC on FOX 3 card on May 5th in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Palhares was approached about fighting Demian Maia on the last FOX card when Michael Bisping was moved up to fill the Mark Munoz vacancy against Chael Sonnen but Palhares had just fought 14-days prior to the FOX event and also cited not wanting to fight a fellow Brazilian. This fills out the main card of the FOX show joining the Nate Diaz Vs Jim Miller lightweight bout, Lavar Johnson taking on Pat Barry in heavyweight action and the welterweight tilt announced this past weekend with Josh Koscheck meeting Johny Hendricks.

**Come the end of the year when people are discussing Edson Barboza and Stephen Thompson having knockout of the year candidates, let’s not let this one fall under the radar courtesy of Michael Page:

What happens when you try to rob an MMA fighter twice your size

**A lightweight bout between Evan Dunham and Edson Barboza has been announced for UFC 146 on May 26th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller will be fighting C.B. Dolloway as well on that card, which is headlined by Junior dos Santos Vs Alistair Overeem for the Heavyweight Title and if he is healthy you can expect Cain Velasquez to return on that card to fight Frank Mir but Velasquez is still a question mark.

**Spike TV’s ‘MMA Uncensored Live’ show debuts this Thursday immediately after ‘Impact Wrestling’ featuring special guest Dan Henderson.

**Jon Jones will be a honorary guest official at the Daytona 500 this coming weekend and will also feature John Cena starting the race.

**MMAJunkie reports that Eddie Alvarez is scheduled to fight Shinya Aoki on April 20th at Bellator 66 but have not announced where the fight will take place yet. One of the issues they will run into is that it’s one of the few big fights Bellator can put but the majority of media outlets will be sending their reporters to Atlanta that weekend for the Jon Jones Vs Rashad Evans fight at UFC 145 and will likely lose a lot of focus in the week leading up to the fight.

**Speaking of the Jones Vs Evans fight trainer Greg Jackson has stated he will in fact corner Jones for that fight after initially saying he would play Switzerland for that fight. Jackson did a bunch of media interviews before and after the Diaz Vs Condit fight and was saying he was going back and forth and hinted at the time he would end up cornering Jones citing that Evans is never coming back to their camp and he needs to be a team player and assist Jones for this fight.

**If you are not sold on the Jones Vs Evans fight than you have to check out this awesome sit down with both on a recent edition of CSS SportsNite to promote the fight and each coming across perfectly to sell this fight.

**Ariel Helwani stated on ‘UFC Tonight’ Tuesday that Zuffa was bringing back Nate Marquardt and putting him into the Strikeforce welterweight division and could end up fighting Tyron Woodley later this year.
