I'm pretty sure I just watched one of the top 5 athletes of all time today win his 12th major. Wow.

Im gonna say best ever, and I know it'll get plenty of nay-sayers..but here are my reasons.
Is there many other examples of people in other sports who had something like 'Tiger-proofing' golf courses? Augusta (who are really against change) changed their layout completely to counteract him, and I guess to an extent its worked there.
Hes the reason lots of golfers work out, run long distances, get really fit etc. There would be many more fat golfers if not for him.
Once he gets in that top spot near the end, you may as well give up. Noone could ever claim to have that sort of clutch performance. I think Earl can take so much credit for that.

Hes just a freak. There wont be another Tiger. Come 100 years time when hes won 20+ majors, people will look back and say he was the greatest of all time im sure of it. Unless he loses focus with family, kids etc, hes untouchable.

well you can't exactly do that in sports like basketball, football, baseball and hockey so much.

I know I should be more impressed by his supernatural talent at his sport, but I just can't take golf that seriously.

Yeah thats true. But noone ever thought to Jack proof a course, or Arnie or whoever.
And for me, I really dont think he is draining the brilliance out of golf..I think hes only adding to it. Remember he didnt even make the cut at the US Open and he didnt win the Masters. Players are hitting it further, their imagination around the green is getting better, and theres some great action. This is all because they have to catch up to Tiger.
Phil/Vijay/Sergio/Ernie etc just have to step up.

He's also having all this success against a pro tour that can see about 30 guys winning a tournament. Not just a handfull like it was in Jack and Arnie's times.

Well put. I draw comparisons to Formula One and Michael Schumacher. It got to the point where Michael was winning every race, every championship, and it was putting people off watching, costing them sponsors, and so on. The sport as a whole suffered due to the monopoly of one man.

I worry that golf is going the same way. But Tigers playing the game, fair play to him, its not his fault, its everyone elses for not being at the same level.

i think just the opposite...every time he wins there are more sponsors and more money to be had..the PGA is stronger than its ever been and the players are all better than they were 10 years ago, Tiger is just a freak....the only thing I dont like about Tiger is that he makes it harder for me to get that 9am Tee time on saturday morning....I always end up playing at 2pm behind a 4some of people shooting 172

ever or just now?? I'd say that Roger Federer is just as impressive as Tiger and every bit as dominant. How about Sorenstan? Also, lets not forget Nicklaus won 18 majors and came in 2nd 19 times. 37 top 2 finishes in majors is pretty impressive.
