yeah, i'm mad

Take the current woes of the Red Sox out of the picture though and this has been a really good baseball season so far. A brutally competitive AL East and teams like the Braves and Rangers having storybook years and whatever the fuck is going on in the NL West

Yeah plus the legendary pitching that's going on. This has been a great baseball year.

2nd best record in the majors from mid-August. Start planning the parade for 2011.

By the way, I can't believe that Ryno is getting as much consideration as they're giving him. He's managed the minors for a whopping 4 years. He's never coached at the major league level. There's a reason that other teams aren't interested in him. If he doesn't get the job, I'm curious if he will jump ship for another team's minor league system or to be a bench coach somewhere else.

As sick as he has been it was still a shock to hear the news. He was such a big part of my baseball life growing up a Cubs fan. He will be missed.

Um, did you see what he did for the Yankees at the end of last season?

I'm not knocking the signing, just the fact that the Cubs' two biggest acquisitions are a middle reliever and a first baseman that hit .192 last year.

James Russell somehow made his 4th start of this year, despite not even being a starting pitcher and is not even a good reliever. I was drinking the Quade juice after how the Cubs finished last year, but this is just embarrassing.

Seeing this picture again reminds me that Alou was never going to catch that ball anyway.

I don't know who else they put in there. What it comes down to is the fact that this team is just not very good, which we knew going into the season. The starting pitching -- particularly Ryan Dempster -- has been abysmal.

Conversation between 2 men overheard this morning getting off the train:

Guy #1: I'm going to the Cubs game this Friday.

Guy #2: Why would you do that?

Guy #1: I don't know. I guess because the tickets were free.

Guy #2: So?

Guy #1: You're right. I'll get rid of the tickets today.

Ladies and gentlemen, your 2011 Chicago Cubs!
