Yeah, I can see how a thread title named in connection with an MLB team in the Sports' forum could irk people . . .

not really, especially in the case of the Sports forum. I guess technically the Cubs could own this thread, though.

There's no need for the comma after the word "thread." But I'm sure that you knew that.

Do you have any other contributions to make to this thread?

I've never bought the comma usage rules. They're pretty arbitrary, they change all the time and so on. I almost always simply use them to indicate pauses where I want pauses to be. It's either that or to separate. Anyway, to answer the question, yep, but I mostly already made it when I called it the worst thread ever. And it led to even more unnecessary threads like it (albeit without unnecessary punctuation), which is the true mark of shit.

There's a pretty decent usage dictionary by Bryan Garner (the editor of Black's Law Dictionary). He does a pretty good job of explaining commas. You can get it on Amazon.

And it's amazing that this thread inspired the subsequent team threads, despite the ton of other team threads in this forum. At least it's not official.

So the Cubs settle up with Zambrano for $12.4 million and avoid arbitration. I can't believe what idiots the Cubs were for taking it so close to arbitration. At one point this afternoon the sides were $200k apart minutes before the deadline. This is the same organization that signed Marquis to a $27 million contract and Lilly to a $40 million contract. Yet they refused to budge over $200k. I can't wait until they try to negotiate a long-term deal (but evidently Zambrano is only looking at a 5-year deal, so at least that's good news).

They paid him for this season to aviod the messy process of arbitration. Getting a multi-year deal done for big Z before the season starts is still goal number 1 for Hendry.

Drawing a line in the sand with your best pitcher after throwing obscene amounts of money at the likes of Lilly and Marquis is usually not a wise strategy.

I'm rooting for the Cubs this year!

Gonna seem in June when they play the Mets...and maybe if there in town during Lollapalooza, if PJ is there.

And the Tribune is selling the Cubs. Finally! We can put a face to organization. Now the question is, to whom?
