Dare I say it but right now, the Royals are the best team in baseball!
Don't get carried away, but as a Tigers fan I was very impressed by KC's pitching and the kid Gordon at 3B looks solid. Teahan is a Tiger killer. You also have the best manager in the Majors that no one has ever heard of.
Dayton Moore’s big-money signings and trades the last couple of years:
1. Jose Guillen ($12 million per): .323 on-base percentage.
2. Mike Jacobs ($3 million or so): .318 on-base percentage.
3. Coco Crisp ($5.75 million or so): .331 on-base percentage.
4. Willie Bloomquist ($1.55 million plus incentives): .324 on-base percentage.
5. Miguel Olivo ($2.7 million): .275 on-base percentage.
That’s actually quite remarkable. Look at that list again. You have five pickups totaling about $25 million per year — and you have to suspect that all five will be in next year’s lineup quite regularly. And not one guy — not ONE GUY — has even a league average on-base percentage for his career. Look at that list again. That’s the core of the Kansas City lineup — the leadoff hitter, the four-five hitters, the eight-nine hitters probably. And that’s a combined .314 on-base percentage.

It'l be interesting to see how the backend of the rotation will hold up and how sturdy that bridge to Soria will end up being. They have as good of a shot than anyone in that division. But its the Royals.

Pat White will sign with the Kansas City . . . Royals Posted by Mike Florio on September 10, 2010 5:00 PM ET Cut too late by the Dolphins to land an opportunity with another team and ineligible for duty on the practice squad, former Dolphins quarterback Pat White is taking a different approach.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, White will be signing with the Kansas City Royals.
He'll sign, we're told, a minor league contract. The Royals understand that White remains interested in playing football, and they will be flexible in letting him return to football if/when an opportunity arises.
It's our understanding that White, in theory, would have an interest in the UFL. The problem is that, with only five teams and the season starting soon, he'd be relegated to a backup role, at best.
White has been picked multiple times in the baseball amateur draft, most recently by the Yankees in 2009, in the 48th round. (This year, Seahawks receiver Golden Tate was picked by the San Francisco Giants in round 50.)

I'll enjoy watching him play for Idaho Falls Chukars next year.
