i tivo'd the replay on classic the other night and watched it... it literally made my arm hairs stand on end in the final minutes...
"do you believe in miracles?!"... see, my hairs are on end just typing that
also, i find it crazy how it was delayed because people were in bed when it was happening... what a great fucking feeling... dont know if youve ever seen the hbo special on it, but i had no idea how important it was to this country, let alone hockey fans... and i really dont even like hockey

most important in what way i wonder... how about jesse owens owning all those white boys from germany way back when... that would seem pretty important... jackie robinson comes to mind... but i dont see how a lot of those can be very important... and oj? fuck oj

Most important of our lifetime (i.e., within the past 30 years). I think they mean most important to mean "change the landscape of sports" or "most memorable."

Hmmm, see I don't remember those moments like I do the USSR/USA game. That was an event that will stay with me forever (I'm not that old . . .really I'm not). I remember where I was at and what I was doing. I think the Gibson HR is up there . . . or the OJ verdict. Or when Stevie Y. hoisted the Stanley Cup for the first time in 55 years. Ah, memories.

youre from chicago and you dont remember those mj moments like they were yesterday?.... i honestly have no recollection of usa/ussr when it actually happened... of course, i was 4 at the time... or 3 going on 4 actually

I'm actually from Michigan . . . didn't move here until after undergrad. Nevertheless, I do remember most of the early Bulls/MJ moments, considering most of them had implications for the Pistons. I do remember the South Side of Chicago burning in 1996, though, the 4th championship. Good times.

i never liked mj myself... i was only 7 when he left carolina, so i wasnt a fan of them at that time... and besides, he ruined barkley's best shot at a championship... him AND john paxson

I just attended a ceremony where 15 of the 20 '80 hockey team members were given a tribute. It was very cool. Thursday there is a skate and meet session with the team. I'm digging out my Daoust 301's. As a youth hockey player in Lake Placid back in the day, these guys were bigger than Gretzky.
Actually, it wasn't that bad, but it was very Disney at the end.
Dave Silk went to my high school and played hockey in the 1970s.
dont think i'd want to see the movie... would probably ruin the actual game/moment for me
I didn't mind the movie, but it was very Disney in some parts. Just a bit overly dramatic/inspirational. They hockey action was actually very good and very acurate. I liked the HBO documentary, 'Do You Believe In Miracles?' Saw that the other night. I was working so I missed the replay of the game.

The hockey scenes were so good because they hired hockey players who were actors. There was a guy from a local college that played Mark Johnson who was a drama major and played for the Potsdam bears. Of course they filmed it in British Columbia!!
