I believe Electro has talked about having been there. I was planning on making the trip for the first time this year but the wife is due April 13. I am very jealous of anyone who has been.

I'm going this year.

We are staying in Charleston, SC, I believe. :?

And the worst part is that I can't really swing it AND the Final Four, so I guess I'll have to root for my Heels at home. 8)

Tulsa is only a 6 hour drive for me so I decided I need to go while I'm still young. The Masters would be the ultimate experience but tickets are harder to get for that and it's alot further away.

I go every year if I can, usually I stay with my Grandmother though in North Augusta, at this point if you don't have a place, driving from Atlanta is not really too bad. Columbia is only an hour away.

My grandmother and grandfather live just across the river and My dad and them have been going since the 50's, I think my grandfather went since it started and they couldn't give away badges.

I love it there. It's surreal, like walking though the gates of heaven whether you've never been or you've been the last 20 years.

Athens or Thompson could be a good choice. Thompson is just a few miles out of town on I20 and is the exit off 20 the road to Athens I believe that's Georgia Route 78. I'd try Thompson before Athens just because Athens is closer to I85 than I20.

Madison is about 30-40 miles further out on I20 on Highway 441 (which also goes to Athens)

Evans is probably expensive too but it's just immediately west of town. Harlem and Warrenton are not too far down I20 either.

Columbia... that's where we are staying, not Charleston.

And I've never been before. We are going to Tuesday's practice day. The old man says it more entertaining than the actual tourney because the players are very friendly and whatnot. Obviously, going to the tourney would be more intense, but I think the practice round is actually more my style.

Practice rounds are a lot of fun because rules are relaxed...you can bring cameras etc. You shouldn't have a bad drive at all from Columbia, it's right at 55-60 minutes. Get there early if you can, it will give you a little time to walk around, it's one of the best courses to walk and view golf in the world because of the layout. I prefer parking off of Berkmans road to Washington because you start at the bottom of the hill (entrance is behind 16 tee, 14 tee and 13 green and Amen Corner is beautiful in the early morning mist. The main entrance brings you by the club house and main pro shops a beer vending area then on to the apex of the 1st tee and fairway 10th tee to your left 18th green to the left of the 1st tee and 9th green. the par three, cabins and driving range will all be to you left as you enter the main gate.

The grandstand at the 15th is one of my favorites to watch. If you sit in the top (facing the grandstand) right corner you can view the 15th approach down the hill (and over the small pond) the 15th green, the 16th tee and most of the 16th green as well as the 17th tee and approach with some binoculars. That and there is a beer tent right behind you.

If you get really hot in the sun walk down to the 10th green, there is always a lot of shade and it's one of the better trickier greens to watch.

I'm glad you guys get to go. It's one of my favorite events of the year.
