These guys deserve a shot at the national title. It's not their fault that nobody in the big conferences wanted to play them. They deserve to play in another game against the Okla/USC winner. Fuck the stupid BCS and fuck the stupid bowls. What bowl did they play in anyway? I have no idea, I'm sure most people don't know. Playoff....stupid fucks

I don't think they deserved any more of a shot than USC, Oklahoma, or Auburn. We have no idea how good they are, because they played no one. Who was their signature win? A season opener against A&M, a team that lost to Baylor? They made the BCS, they should be happy, too bad the big east gets an automatic bid, or we could have seen them play Boise State or Cal.

I Second this. Why did they not play Auburn?

My local paper used as a reason to not have a playoff....."not contributing to the over commercialization of college athletics."

I almost choked on my coffee as I watched the end of the Rose Bowl presented by Citi and anxiously anticipitated the Tostido's Fiesta Bowl, the Nokia Sugar Bowl and the Fed Ex Orange Bowl.

The college presidents are the only reason that there is no playoff in division 1A. Why? because the BCS is a tremendous money maker for them and they are afraid of changing thier money pit, they don't give a shit about anything but generating revenue, and they are too shortsighted to go with any kind of drastic change.

Division 2 has a playoff are they more commercial than division 1 uh...no?

Basketball has a playoff do they struggle with thier studies at Finals? no more than any other collegiate athlete.

It's past time to stop pretending these kids aren't being prostituted solely for the universities monitary gain. They deserve to play in a playoff settled on the field, not the tremendous joke of a system we have now.

Cal would have been a much better matchup.

I thoroughly enjoied the Boise State/Louisville matchup one of the better bowl games.

The rose bowl was actually worth watching this year, a classic. Right after an outstanding Georgia Tech/Kansas basketball game.

They never mention that the majority of colleges are on break from the middle of December to the end of middle of January either. That being said, I wouldn't want there to be more than one game added. If there was a far reaching playoff season, it would hurt the regular season, make it less special, I like that EVERY game counts. I would just like to see automatic conference bids done away with, and maybe a final four situation. Pitt, Michigan, and VT being in the BCS is ridiculous, if they were replaced by Utah, Cal(the call before we knew they were gutless), and Boise State or Louisville would have kicked ass.

I like that. It would make sense to add a game and I'd like to see the 8 best teams in the BCS, the problem I have with all of it is that the chosen 8 is still speculation. Oh well, we're stuck with this system for a long time anyway, and teams are still chosen for the NCAA basketball tourney based on speculation too, the bowl season matchups this season were decidedly weaker than in years past for the majority of the bowls, especially the pre-Christmas bowls.

I vote we move the bowl requirements to 7 wins As of now the Bowl at the end of the season is ceasing to be a reward for a good season and it's becoming a thanks for participating kind of deal.

A fucking-men. My biggest gripe with the bowls(besides there being no true natiional champion) is that these teams have like 5-6 weeks off before they play. They aren't the same team they were going into the bowl games. I wonder what they could do in between those 5-6 weeks.......oh yeah, they could play a couple of playoff games. Duh! Can anybody really say that Utah couldn't beat Oklahoma or USC? No, you can't. Same goes for Auburn. The "plus 1" idea isn't that great either. Lets say Auburn wins tonight. obviously they would play in the plus 1 game. But what about Utah? The whole thing is a joke, there is no tradition left in the bowls anyway, get rid of them. Have a playoff, it would be the best thing in sports, even better than the hoops tourney.

The 5 weeks off thing kills momentum too. plus 1 may be the best we can get for what 7 years now so I'll take that over nothing. I'd still like a playoff though. At the moment, that prospect looks pretty bleak. The major conference presidents cannot stomach the idea that a Utah or a Marshall, Boise State or Louisville could potentially knock one of them off early therby knocking thier earning potential down by 10 or so million dollars.

I guess there will always be problems. If Auburn gets it done tonight I do not see how the AP will not crown them thier champion. It would be a travesty.

I'm all for getting rid of the BCS, but not because of Utah. Utah is overrated, they are a gimmicky offense that preys on inferior athletes. They are a GOOD team, I just wish there was a playoff so they could be put in their place,
like Cal was.

Maybe just maybe the Red River Shootout will be different next season. The Rose Bowl win has to have done wonders for recruiting in an already stacked area of the country and that's Mack Browns strongest point anyway. Who the hell would choose to go to Norman, Oklahoma over Austin, Texas? In the world of repetitive fight songs the Okies easily have the worst ever scribed.

Utah did play a great game, and congrats to them on a great season, but they have no place in a National Title game. They should be happy with a BCS Bid and Win, and the $14 MILLION payoff that comes their way.

That was just a ridiculous display, I began feeling pity for michigan defenders, they could NOT tackle him. When Michigan kicked the field goal with 3 minutes left, I KNEW UT would score, Vince looked like me playing against my 6 year old nephews.
I'm temporarily putting my differences with OU aside to be a Big 12 homer in the Orange Bowl.

Speaking of Oklahoma, does anybody like them to win tomorrow night? I think this is one of the toughest games to pick. Maybe the over is the way to go

I'm picking OU, even though I hate them, largely because USC's normal tailback will be out for the game, and moreso because I believe USC is completely untested this year. PAC-10 football is teh suck.
