I've got a funny feeling the AP is going to vote Auburn #1 in the final poll, just to stick it to the BCS. I can see that even more likely if Auburn not only wins, but shuts out VT.

Auburn hasn't dominated enough to get the AP vote. The only thing that might happen ios the AP choosing Auburn to make a mockery out of the BCS(which is possible). I think Auburn is off in this game, the 20 days off have obviously hurt a bit. They still have a shutout going(not for long) so they are doing enough right now. Not the greatest game either. Not enough athleticism is being shown. a lot of hitting though

Yeah, I wouldn't say Auburn is exactly making a CASE for #1 at this point, but I wouldn't put it past the AP voters now that they've officially split from the BCS.

Congrats to Auburn! First 13-0 season in the school's history. Maybe not impressive enough for some of you folks out there but VA Tech isn't exactly a cupcake. Hopefully since the AP isn't going to be associated with the BCS after this season, it will give the screws to the BCS. You can't deny an undefeated team from the SEC at least a share of a national title.
That was the most boring bowl game I've ever seen... I fell asleep in the 2nd quarter
god, this was right. Auburn was outplayed in the game. There were a lot of circumstances that contributed to that, but geez va, tech blew the pooch tonight. After the first quarter I almost posted praising Auburn, but they didn't show too much in this game. Winning by three while the other team drops an easy touchdown on fourth and goal and misses a 20 yard field goal and a two point conversion isn't the way to impress people.

Auburn wouldn't get my vote now. If you don't cover the spread you don't deserve to be #1
That probably the silliest thing I have ever heard. Since when do they play to the spread? This isn't Jimmy Johnson's Miami Hurricanes.
it isn't that silly. If they won 16-0 they would have an argument according to this stupid systme. since they didn't cover and a lot of the voters gamble I think it will only make it worse for them since they didn't cover. Nobody really thought Tech could win, the spread was all that mattered in this game. They didn't cover, they don't deserve #1.

Does Auburn deserve to play the winner of the Orange Bowl to decide the national championship? Sure, and I think Utah deserves a shot too. But since that won't happen, does Auburn deserve the number 1 spot in the AP to claim a share of the national championship? No way. After being number 3 most of the year behind USC and Oklahoma and after an unconvincing win against a Tech team who struggled on their own, I think Auburn cannot jump that far in the poll. If the AP voters decide to boost Auburn up to number 1 out of pity for Auburn and out of spite for the BCS, than I think it would make a mockery out of their poll.

Yeah, that game was almost as boring as last years Rose Bowl on which AP voters awarded USC their crown.
If Auburn isn't granted the same this season it's absolute bullshit.
USC- struggled to beat UCLA, Cal, and Va Tech
Oklahoma nearly lost to Oklahoma State and they also nearly lost to the awful Texas A&M aggies who couldn't sack up to Baylor and they got smoked by Tennessee who Auburn destroyed twice. Oklahoma is no more a dominate team than Auburn.
It's all bullshit, it's all speculation and Auburn is clearly as good as Oklahoma and USC.
Based on the preseason rankings Auburn had no shot of jumping Oklahoma and USC, so we are penalizing a fantastic team based on the speculation of sportswriters before the season. That in itself makes the BCS "BS".
