Warner led the Cardinals to the Super Bowl-that alone deserves the HoF.

Well that is where I think we have to decide if actual "notability" has anything to do with it, which I think it should. Is Joe Namath in the Hall of Fame purely based on stats? Hell no. It's his white shoes, his SB guarantee, being in the first MNF game, and all those other things, combined with how he actually played. Kurt Warner deserves to make the Hall largely because of his unconventional path throughout the league. He is one of the most interesting stories and at times one of the most dominating players in the history of the NFL.

Times have changed though. The Narrative isn't enough to get in the Hall, especially with each passing year more and more guys who are deserving NOT being in (Andre Reed...)

I think you could argue that with stats being inflated the narrative becomes more important, but I guess you have a point.

Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me but I remember Warner throwing a lot of 70 yard TD passes that didn't go 5 yards downfield. He was good, no doubt, but Faulk, Bruce, and Holt are all > Warner.

Yes, Torry Holt is a more memorable player than Kurt Warner.

And I'm the one watering this thing down?

I'm not trying to put a PR or a QB who was very good throwing to Faulk, Bruce, Holt, Fitgerald, and Boldin (and not so much to anybody else) in the HOF.

Kurt Warner: great story, amazing 5-6 years. Hall of Very Good, not HOF.

You're actually in the minority on Warner from what I've read, and a straw poll of people with actual HoF votes was pretty torn on Hester if he keeps it up. But ok.

I don't mind being in the minority, I'm pretty comfortable there. Warner was very, very good for two different brief spurts of time. IMO I don't believe he is a HOFer. I don't think it's ridiculous for someone to say he belongs, but I just don't think he makes the cut. There are a bunch of 90s QBs in already and several '00 QBs who are locks and ahead of him. Manning, Brady, Favre, and probably Brees (ugh, and maybe even Roethlisberger) plus Young, Aikman, Kelly, Elway, and Marino who are already in. Warner's career kinda falls right in between those eras, but I don't think he measures up to any of those guys except Aikman.

Really good, yes. But I don't think he measures up to the very best of the 90s and 00s.

i think Warner barely gets in, and should. his playoff performance is outstanding (and the Cards totally got robbed in that super bowl, btw).

i agree, not having a guy who could tackle a 6'4 280lb linebacker running 90+ yards is complete robbery

id also lean on the side that hines lack of size and speed as well as his willingness to go across the middle helps his chances

I would be amazed if Hines Ward gets in with all the WR's backed up. It will take a long time if he does.

it seems like a no brainer.

looking at this year's Finalists Ballot: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/h ... ballot.htm

I'd have to think that the following get in:

Curtis Martin
Tim Brown
Kevin Greene
Willie Roaf

To me, Parcells is the first no-brainer among that group.

I always loved the last name "Roaf." How could you end up anything other than a huge lineman?
