There's an argument that there could be an institutional bias against defensive players:

who is the goalie? khabibulen or however the fuck you spell it? he's a no

Roenick 495 goals 675 assists 0.93 points per game 0 cups
Fedorov 455 goals 633 assists 0.98 points per game 3 cups, 1 Hart, 1 Selke and 1 Pearson

If Roenick goes in, then Fedorov surely deserves a spot.

Yeah, I'd pick Fedorov hands down ahead of Roenick... it's not even close, mainly because of the awards. I think the Selke gives Fedorov even more credibility than any of the other awards.

huh?

i don't think you understand the baseball HOF. it's all about who the best citizens are combined with a little bit of on field production.

should Dawkins get in..yes. Will he? Not sure. It's not like the HOF elects a lot of safeties. Ronnie Lott and Mike Haynes are the only DB's who played the majority of their careers post 1980 to get in.

do you think im being naive in saying that dawkins is the prototype for a modern day nfl safety?

perhaps. If you're talking about big hitting "all-purpose" DB's who can blitz, play the run, and cover....there were guys on the Steelers in the 90's like Woodson (even though he was a CB for the most part) and Carnell Lake who were similar IMO. Rodney Harrison also come to mind...
