I was shocked to read that yesterday morning. I knew he had taken a year out but did not know he was so ill. He had cancer of the neuro endocrine cells of the stomach lining which a) sounds bad b)sounds rare.
Always remember the time he beat Ken Doherty in the Masters and later revealed that he had sex with his wife during the interval which brought about a dramatic improvement in his play.
RIP.

I also heard this. The fact i've now posted 3 times in this thread shows my admiration for the guy. Too many good people have died in the last month.

This took me by surprise yesterday, I didn't know he was ill. Very sad when anyone so young dies. I remember him in my head with the long hair and the alice bands. The BBC referred to him last night as the Beckham of the Baise, which seemed quite appropriate. Snooker will miss him

I remember watching that match aswell.
I knew he was ill but didn't realise he was so bad, I read somewhere that some of his closest friends didn't even know he was so ill.
I was speachless when I found out about it on Monday night, I was channel hopping during adverts of The Contender finale and put Sky Sports News on and it was on the Yellow ticker running across the bottom of the screen, I was shellshocked, I didn't know what to do or say.

I watched it all day on Monday. Selby is a good player. Higgins is great, but boy, is he dull. I remember the days of Alex Higgins and Jimmy White in their prime. Never a dull moment with them boys.
