god i hope he gets back in the league somehow

a bunch of us had a discussion not too long ago, that if there was fantasy baseball during rickeys prime, he without a doubt wouldve been the greatest fantasy baseball player of all time

Bill James once wrote that you could split Rickey Henderson into two players and they would both be Hall of Famers.

But then he'd only have 1/4 the intelligence of an average man.

A jerk.
A player that only cared about himself and his own stats.
Awful teammate.
The modern day NBA player.

But still of the greatest players to play the game.

Ricky was my favorite player growing up. I wore #24 in baseball and basketball because of him. He was the guy that I had to have all of his baseball cards.

About 15 years ago when I still had baseball cards, his rookie was worth about $150. I looked a few months ago and it is worth about $50. I guess baseball cards have taken a big shit. Good thing I sold 'em all off when I went to college.

I remember the first time I went to game at Yankee Stadium, Ricky went to do the thing where he'd slap his glove against his hip after a catch but the ball popped out of his glove for an error.

Remember the "Snatch"?

When he was in his prime a walk was almost as good as a run, it was amazing how disruptive he could be.
