i'm not sure montana was at smart as peyton is. he's basically a quarterback/offensive coordinator.

How do you really know who's smarter? I'm sure Montana had ALOT of input with the 49ers game planning when he played.

I'm just saying its gonna be hard to prove one way or the other. I hated Montana but he was every bit as good as Peyton as far as football smarts. Peyton is more talented as far as the throws he can make.

you make good points. i suppose it could be argued either way. i'm not a huge peyton fan but he's got mad skillz, yo.

There's a reason Brady gets compared to Montana while Manning gets compared to Marino. When I was a young kid I always argued that Marino was better and I hated Montana. When I got older and learned more about the game and what it takes to win I finally realized who was better. Montana is the best QB to ever play the game, numbers don't do him justice even though he has incredible numbers.

it's only fitting that he will break marino's records. i heard it's a lot easier to throw the ball without all those rings on your finger getting in the way.

I think manning gets compared to Marino more because of the non-SB wins. Same with Brady/Montana cause they've won multiple super bowls. I don't know who's smarter(Manning/Montana) but Peyton seems like he has more responsibility. Plus Montana had some of the best defenses in the league.
