What offensive and defensive formations are usually used in jr. high and high school?

the I and wing formations are fairly common on offense. most defenses run a 4-3 or 4-4 type of formation.

Wing: so it's with a toss to the QB, with the HB next to him; then a WB next to the TE? and a FB between the TE and HB?

this is a wing formation. sometimes the qb will be in shotgun. tb is usually directly across from qb, and almost always in junior high and high school there will be a fullback lined up in the backfield. lots of tosses, options, and screens are ran from the wing.

Hell sometimes they don't even use any WRs and just toss it one way or the other.

I would say that most jr. highs, and freshman/sophomore year high schools run either 5-3 or 4-4 on defense.

So true.

The team (7th and 8th graders) I coached in North Carolina was full of freak athletes, so we ran five lineman, a tailback, four receivers, and the qb. Teams were clueless in trying to defend us at that level.

Imo, good coaches adapt their style of play to the players they have. Stubborn, know-it-all coaches don't.

And yeah, we ran a 5-3 on defense due to the fact that most teams ran about 90% of the time.

So, anyway, are you thinking "Goods" section or the "Specials" page?

(Let's talk about something important.)
