Alright since it seems like we have a small base of Leafs fans here and we are hijacking the NHL thread, lets get our own thread going.
4 Games in we have 5 of a possible 8 points. Definitely better than I would have imagined.
Kubina went down last night and it may not be good. In the event Kubina is out for a while, should the leafs package Tellqvist for a d-man, sign Leetch, or stick it out with the young guys who are already hurting?

stick it out, I liked Tellqvist last year. If anything we should have never signed Gill, i know i sound like a broken reciord but the guy absolutly sucks. We really don;t need leetch, and i'd rather not get any older than we have to. the only trade i'd like to see is Ponikarovsky for somebody or O'neil for someone.i dont have alot of faith in either of those two. it seems like the Leafs are heading in the right direction, Raycroft is playing solid, and tellqvist is a soild backup.

I'd consider Pony to be untouchable. He is a rising star, but at this point of his career won't get you a whole lot in a trade. He has a HUGE upside though.
If they are to make a trade, I think any combination of Antropov, Kilger, Aubin, and O'Neill would be a good move for a 3 or 4 defenceman.

so Kubina is out for four weeks or so. That's actually good news, when I saw him go down I thought for sure he was done for the year.

yeah but still,
he was a big reason we lost our first game, and a big reason we were in the games that won.

now that i think about it , we should put tellqvist on the trade block, see what we can get.

No one agrees with you. Have you not read this thread? Have you not watched him play? Considering him a top line winger is ridiculous, but saying he's useless is just stupid. He can play a role on the team and will only get better in years to come.

Kilger
I couldn't disagree more. Kilger's role on the team is extremely important. He's the best forchecker they have, a great penalty killer, and I could see him picking up 20 goals. They other guys are fairly disposable because they can sort of be replaced... I don't think Kilger is replaceable. Just look at the way Steen plays with so much more energy when they play together. He inspires.

ok ok ok, i'll stop with my ponikarovsky rant.
As for Kilger, He is a solid 2 way player. he is a guy when most people hear the name Kilger they say "who the hell is he?" But watching him on the PK and the way the guy hits and for his offensive abilities. he is a really strong unsung hero on the Leafs.
but as for last nights game, we blew it. i don;t care about getting 1 point. why is Gionta not getting cleared out in front? it's these little things that the leafs seem to miss.
but i'm very happy to see the amount of shots on goal, and the way our offence played during the 1st 2 periods. Why they didn;t carry that into the 3rd is beyond me, but hopefully they will learn from this.

I thought it was pretty obvious that the defence was completely exhausted. They've got too many guys who aren't used to getting that many minutes, which is (in my opinion) the biggest problem with all the injuries. It's not necessarily the lack of talent, it's just that they can't keep it up long enough.
But yeah... I'm REALLY impressed with the effort they've but in so far. It's only a few games (and I've probably mentioned this before) but this is the most exciting hockey the Leafs have played in at least 5-6 years. It's a different and much more effective style than what Quinn played. I've always loved watching the Leafs because they're the Leafs, now I ALSO love watching them because it's EXCITING.

I love how we've gotten 11 goals on the best goalies in the nhl in our last 2 games.
It's been great to watch. For me, the biggest difference from past years is the shot totals. They're not trying to be too fancy. Just send it on net, and you'll get results.

Battaglia could do the same job, as could Ondrus.

Battaglia... I could see that.
Ondrus... I suppose a little bit, but I don't see the offensive upside that Kilger has had. I don't know that he's quite as well rounded... though I love to watch him play.
I don't know... there's just something about Kilger... you know if he's on the ice, he'll do something important.

so next up are the Avs. Hopefully they can light up Theodore and Kaberle will get me a few points for my pool, he's killing me so far.
