The thing that's odd is his hypersensitivity. Did not everyone defend him when idiot Limbaugh was spouting off about it? Why wouldn't he target Vick instead with his lackluster pass game if the media was overhyping any black QB it was him? I know because I defended Vick his entire career.

I get that Brett Farve is the recipient of ridiculous man crushes (madden) and defended irresponsibly but he has won a super bowl after all.

Any rational person would tell you Mcnabb has been one of the best 5 QB's in the league since he's been in it until this year. He may feel more pressure, and his own people may have defended TO (who knows why?) and he dosen't play like what people expect from a "black" QB (neither does Leftwich) but no one worth listening to gives a damn what color a QB is. They get too much credit when they win and lose period, but they are the focal point. He's barking up the wrong tree from my POV, but then I'm not a black man either so what do I know, I just think if he's feeling the weight of the race on his back it's a little ridiculous, he's proven to everyone he's a good and capable QB, everyone knows shitty receivers (and asshole free agents TO) have plagued that team the entire run. It's ridiculously hard to get to a super bowl and win one, he had a bad game when it mattered most, but I still think he's one of the best in the league when he's on, it has nothing to do with color. Whining about being booed will only draw more boos unless he shakes off the rust and fast. He was awesome until he blew out his knee last year. I don't remember boos then.

I'm really growing tired of McNabb and his horseshit.

Manning was HEAVILY scrutinized before he won the Super Bowl this past year. Much more so in the national media then McNabb. He needs to get over himself, he plays for a team with an insane fan base where anything less than a championship is unacceptable.

every quarterback is highly scrutinized and mcnabb hasn't been successful enough in the past few years to avoid it (hell even successful ones like manning and grossman have been highly criticized in the past).

You do realize the interview in question happened in August, before the season started, right?

Most QB's are looked at based on if they have won a Super Bowl or not... Peyton Manning was leading the league in almost every QB statistic, but was shit on after every season because he couldn't win the big game. Then finally he wins....

Maybe some people should stop looking at the color of their skin as the reason people criticize them... Last time I checked only one black QB has led their team to victory in the big game... and that man is in Tecmo Bowl... so yes it's been a while

SO SUCK IT UP " BROTHA "

I don't know if I agree with McNabb's use of the word "criticism", that might not be the right word. But I definitely agree with his assessment that people have certain expectations of black QBs when it comes to running the ball more. That's not fair.

I know it's crazy to think black guys and running go together. I mean honestly when is the last time you saw a WR or RB that was black?!?!?!??! There really should be more black athletes in Track and Field as well.

There really needs to be more white punters and kickers in the NFL as well....

this guy's really an idiot:

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Donovan McNabb smiled when a reporter asked for his opinion on the upcoming opponent and pumped his fist when the next question was about his poor start.

Once the topic switched to McNabb's comment about black quarterbacks, his mood changed quickly.

In a bizarre interview that ended with McNabb walking off the podium at the Philadelphia Eagles practice facility Wednesday, the five-time Pro Bowl quarterback reiterated his statement on HBO that black QBs face greater scrutiny than their white counterparts.

"It's just reality," McNabb said. "It's something that I've been a part of and other quarterbacks before and after me have been a part of. Did I expect any backlash? Yeah. Everything I say, I expect backlash from it."

McNabb displayed a variety of emotions while getting peppered with questions on the race issue. He was perplexed and defensive -- and looked more uncomfortable than he does standing in the pocket on his surgically repaired knee under a heavy rush.

"People are trying to dig too deep in this whole situation," he said. "I wasn't pinpointing particular people. What I said was the fact that we (black QBs) have to do a little extra. No matter the style of play you're displaying, there's always going to be criticism."

Asked if any quarterback was criticized more than Chicago's Rex Grossman last year, McNabb said: "I wouldn't know."

He then mentioned Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer, Tom Brady, Hall of Famer Steve Young and Jake Plummer.

"I never said Peyton doesn't get criticized. I never said Carson doesn't get criticized. I never said Tom doesn't get criticized, because they do," McNabb said. "They talked about Peyton not winning the big game. They talked about Tom Brady and his baby and girlfriend. We get criticized a little differently."

Pressed for specific examples, McNabb pointed to being a running quarterback.

"Nobody ever talked to Steve Young about the running quarterback situation and Jake Plummer," he said.

McNabb has always been sensitive about being labeled a running quarterback. He considers himself someone who passes first and runs only out of necessity.

"You wouldn't ask somebody else the questions we get asked," McNabb said, declining to reveal those questions.

I am still a big McNabb supporter but his spoiled brat attitude has been the one thing I don't like. He would also be a better player if he would just use his talents the right way instead of being so self conscious about running. The threat of a guy being able to run or throw for a first puts a defense in such an awkward position and he sees it as being labled a "typical" black QB.

I wish he wasn't such a fucking baby and he has never embraced being here. It's ashame because he is the best QB that has ever played for the Eagles and he seems like a genuinely nice guy.
