lets also not forget that parcells can keep the #1 and take dorsey and then the #1 in the second round any other year, would be a first round pick (you're welcome from NE) so they can could take a QB that falls. I'm thinking Ryan (Atl), Brohm (Balt) and Woodson (Chi) are off the board so one of Chad Henne, John David Booty, Denis Dixon, Colt Brennan and Eric Ainge should be available and could possibly be this drafts version of Big Ben.

I highly doubt Chicago takes a qb in the first round, and I don't want the phins to take another qb early in the draft. They have too many other needs at this point, IMO.

well, once the bears have donavon i'm sure they wont get a qb. and i fully agree, we have so many holes to fill and QB is not a strong position in this draft. personally, i'd like to get Long (OT from Michigan) but i'd be contended with the other long or dorsey. i'm just excited because that feeling of dread, of "how are we gonna screw this draft up" isn't really there. :)

if lemon/beck is what they stay with next year then I fully expect them to go 1-15 again.

mercifully, lemon is a free agent--he had plenty of chances and resoundingly showed he sucks. i would be stunned if he was re-signed. i'd predict we have another veteran stop-gap for next year (while everybody hopes that beck can take the job away and do something with it) while we start building the team from the interior.

oh, and speaking of re-signings, we picked up ricky's contract for '08.

At first I was shocked by that but when you think about it Ronnie Brown is hurt alot and the two back system is big now in the NFL so if Ricky can return close to what he was a few years ago that would be huge for Miami in terms of getting wins w/o a qb to speak of

i'd say its more clear now than ever that the phins aren't taking Mcfadden, which means they're not a threat to atlanta/oakland/NYJ should they want to draft him.

what would atl/oak/nyj have to give up to move to miamis spot, sayin that they want mcfadden that bad??

when the saints moved up to get ricky (to the 5 spot) they gave up the farm

which was the worst trade in the history of the draft.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft06/n ... id=2410670

after looking at the chart, it would take atl/NYJ/oak #1, #2 & #3 to get up to #1 overall. its just too valuable a pick, look what the Giants had to give up for Eli, there's no one that could talk me out of thinking that trade was awful.

Nah, the Ryan Leaf trade was worse. At least the Saints got some production and two first round picks out of Ricky.

I think Dorsey's going to be awesome in the pros, but most DTs seem to take longer to mature since oftentimes they dominate in college just by being bigger and stronger. Now, that might not be a problem for the Dolphins since it's clear they're rebuilding, but if they want someone who's ready to go I'd say Jake Long or Darren McFadden would be better choices.

It's the simple case of what does the 'Big Tuna' want from his team.

Does he want to score, or does he want to stop the opponents from scoring, because right now they can do neither.

remember..their best offensive player and 2nd best defensive player was out for the season last year

bring in dorsey..and zach is back..d can get much much better

or mcfadden and brown can be a 2 headed beast

it doesn't have to be one of the other, lots of runningbacks could be brought in to share some of the load with brown (felix jones could be the better half of the Razorback tandom and ray rice just declared).

remember b/c of the penalty to the pats this year the dolphins essentially have 2 first round picks, #1 & #32.

Does anyone have two first round picks this year?

I don't know if there is a player out there that is a consensus #1 pick that everyone is saying they must have where it would be easy for the Dolphins to trade out of that slot.

i think dallas has 2, but they are late 1st rounders so they may have to give somethin else up

I think we have pretty decent options this year. You got two top notch d-linemen, a top notch OT, and a sick RB. If I had my druthers, I'd want Dorsey or one of the Long brothers. We could potentially trade out of the top spot, drop down to 3 or 4 and pick up a little something extra and still get a top quality player.

Personally, I think with Ronnie Brown coming back, we can have the two headed RB system with either Ricky, or more likely Chatman, who wasn't half bad as a #2 guy. But I'm really liking our draft scenarios right now.

we get it. the first pick of the second round is like the last pick of the first round. big frooping whoop. you guys still have what, the #5 or 6 pick?

let it go. it was a slap on the wrist and a great motivating factor for this season. you guys are the runaway favorite to win your 4th championship of the decade. the best dynasty since the early 90's cowboys. enjoy it dude. don't get wrapped up in the bitterness. look at the big picture...life is pretty good for new england sports fans right now. even without the last pick of the first round.

i'm not complaining, i'm only stating what i would want from my team if they were in this both unfortunate (1-15  ) and fortunate (having the #1 & #32  )position. so i keep pointing it out, b/c it shouldn't be overlooked. its an advantage for the phins that most likely will never happen again. they could potentially keep the #1 overall and trade the #32 pick in the draft for a handful of picks (like the pats would of done anyway) b/c its a first rounder. my only point is that its a valuable pick and people seem to forget this or overlook it. the draft pick value chart says the #32 pick scores at 590. so if a team like the saints want to jump back into the first round, they'd have to send miami their 2nd rounder (480), 4th (82) and 5th (24.4). that seems a lot more likely to happen, b/c miami could not only be guaranteed their stud player with the #1, but they'd have the extra picks to use or deal and gain more picks next year and lets also remember that randy moss was acquired for a 4th rounder folks. miami might not be a playoff team next season, but they'll be much improved with a strong draft (re: cleveland's jump this past season)
