best case scenario for us would be that mcfadden declares for the draft and blows everybody away at workouts, etc. the team with the #2 pick wants mcfadden. but like the team with the 3 or 4 really, really wants him and is willing to trade up. so we fall back to like 3 or 4, get an extra pick or two and still get a top tier player. with the 4th pick, you're still guaranteed one of the longs or dorsey. though obviously i'd want the o-lineman the best, we'd still come out okay with any of them.

but that scenario won't work, b/c everybody knows/expects the dolphins NOT to pick mcfadden, so why trade up, if the draft order went like this, as it stands today:

miami
rams
jets
falcons
pats
raiders
chiefs
ravens
bengals
bears
eagles

then i'd see mcfadden falling to the jets, falcons or pats and then maybe the bears without any trades happenning.

here's my thoughts on who'd go where in this scenario:

miami - Jake Long, OT, Michigan
rams - Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
jets - Darren Mcfadden, RB, Ark
falcons - Chris Long, DE, Virginia
pats - James Laurinaitis, LB, OSU
raiders - Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
chiefs - Malcolm Jenkins, CB, OSU
ravens - Matt Ryan, QB, BC
bengals - Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida
bears - Vernon Gholston, DE, OSU
eagles - Ryan Clady, OT, Boise St.

obviously, i know nothing about anything, but this is my initial thoughts.

isn't it amazing how great a really bad season can be for your team? i mean, if the dolphins are 5-9, 4-10 right now, do they still go after parcells and look to re-staff the whole organization? i don't think so.

I think the scenario does still work. If you re-read it, I'm hoping that the #2 pick team needs a RB and is drooling over McFadden. And that the 3 or 4 team is also enamored with him, so to get him they have to hop over the #2 team to get him. So the fact that we do or don't want McFadden becomes irrelevant.

i actually think the fins should draft ryan or maybe brohm if they dont trade down..i have no faith in beck

part of me wants mcfadden..having 2 good rbs is huge nowadays..it just sucks that the one stellar player is the only position the fins really dont need

just think....coulda had Quinn learning the ropes these last 6-7 games and then coulda drafted Long to protect him for the next 10 years

but instead cammy cameron picked a kick returner.

like i said, if Tuna keeps him on as HC he will already be a miserable failure

So long Randy Meuller!! :)

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3174839

Parcells fires Mueller, to meet with Cameron Tuesday

DAVIE, Fla. -- Bill Parcells' shakeup of the Miami Dolphins began Monday with the firing of general manager Randy Mueller.

Assistant director of player personnel Mike Baugh and college scouting coordinator Rick Thompson also departed.

Also at risk of being fired was coach Cam Cameron, who said he would discuss his future with Parcells this week. On Sunday, the Dolphins became only the eighth team to finish 1-15.

Parcells began work Thursday as executive vice president of football operations.

Mueller was the Dolphins' general manager for three seasons but was in charge of personnel decisions only since coach Nick Saban left a year ago.

Mueller received mixed reviews for his moves in 2007, which included the acquisition of free-agent linebacker Joey Porter and the selection of receiver Ted Ginn Jr. and quarterback John Beck in the draft.

Mueller was GM of the Saints in 2000 and 2001, then served as an NFL analyst for ESPN for three seasons prior to his hiring by the Dolphins. In New Orleans, Mueller traded Ricky Williams to Miami for two first-round draft picks before the 2002 season.
