Well I don't think the goal of rebuilding is to suck. That said, I don't understand why they decided a 3rd CB was worth $16M other than that they're morons. Or working on trading Davis or Smith.
If Manning goes to Tennessee I wonder what they'd be asking for Jake Locker.

If Manning goes to TN they will keep Locker and get rid of Hasselbeck. Locker will play when Manning retires. No way they get rid of Locker, the team is really impressed by him and would love for someone like Manning for him to play behind for a few years. It's hard to imagine them giving up Locker because he is the eventual future of the team. Manning would just be here for 2-3 years to win now, regardless of how long of a contract he gets.

matt flynn = rob johnson?
according to former NFL football player and pro football analyst Steve DeOssie, the Buffalo Bills paid a lot of money for Rob Johnson who played some good football with his former team, but didn't produce with Buffalo..
just food for thought...

that's using the term pretty loosely... what he does on EEI is explain things so Glenn understands them.
i bet these players come in to meet with ross and ireland and a couple hours later theyre thinkin, god theres not enough of money on this planet to play for these 2 retards
this is such a disaster and the only thing that could make it worse is to go and trade too much for tebow, which at this point will most likely happen unless they get alex smith or black shrek 2 or some other rotten qb
honestly id rather matt moore, he didnt look that terrible last yr

THIS x10,000
There is no upgrade out there at this point. I can't wait until they trade up to #3 to take a QB that should barely be in the first round.

I mean there are really only two options here: a. Philbin thinks Flynn sucks and didn't want him, but helped his former player out by feigning interest so he wouldn't look like a leper. b. Our front office situation is so bad that we couldn't even get a QB to come to a place to run the offense he already knows with a coach he's had for four years.
I'm not betting on Philbin's benevolence.

I don't think it's benevolence- a front office in need of a qb will indicate they're looking at all the options- even if they don't have any real interest in a specific guy. That way, if it comes down to no other options, they don't look stupid by closing doors.

Fair enough. My point was just that they either weren't really interested (so no loss) or they were and failed again to get a guy they wanted. With their recent history I know what my guess is.

I bet management gets desperate and tries to trade for Tim Tebow.
For Tebow's sake I hope not.

My guess is they don't really want him. if you take out the one game against the Lions, he's thrown for like 500 yards in his career, with more picks than td's. He might be okay, but outside of that one absolutely retarded game, he really hasn't done much of anything in a 4 year career.

He also played a very good game against a pretty shitty Patriots D in their SB year. But I agree the jury is very much still out on him. He's very comparable to Cassel or even Kolb in that the team he started with had better offensive talent than any other team he'll probably ever play with.

The problem is this front office can't afford the PR blunder of missing out on another guy that they've targeted. If they didn't want him they shouldn't have ever brought him in. Philbin has seen the guy for 4 years. This interview wasn't for Flynn to sell himself to the Dolphins.
Make no mistake this is a PR disaster right now. The only thing worse is the Alex Smith and David Garrard meetings today and tomorrow. What a joke.

At least Cassel did it for an entire season though.

Ellis, you have a point, but there's honestly no doubt in my mind that Flynn could have put together a similar season to Cassel's 2008 playing with that GB team. Basically a team with a great #1 and four quality #2 targets. That's extremely rare, and QB is much easier to play if you have a bunch of guys getting open all the time. I think he'll end up an adequate starter for Seattle but will definitely face some growing pains--as in I don't see him throwing 6 TDs again anytime soon.

Conflicting reports say that Smith either isn't interested in Miami or they are negotiating a deal worth $8m a year.
