overall league vs. league (or conference vs. conference) records would give a more accurate view than the finals/world series/super bowl.

Last time I checked you play a team in the championship game, not an entire conference.
I just checked and the conference champion represents said conference's best team in the tourney.
Does it really? Was Pittsburgh the best team in the AFC two years ago? No, most would say Indy/NE/Denver. Was St Louis the best team in the NL last year? No, most would say the Mets were. Was Carolina the best team in the NFC a few years ago? No, most would say the Eagles were. The best team doesn't always win it all, sometimes its the hottest team at the time that does.

This website has done a real good job explaining how not only is the AFC dominating, but how four teams in particular (Broncos, Pats, Steelers, Colts) are dominating:

Using that logic, you question the legitimacy of every champion out there. For example, if Carolina wasn't the best team in the NFC a few years ago and the Eagles were does that make New England's championship not legit? You can't have it both ways. When the game is on the line --- when it counts THE MOST --- the best teams win in the playoffs. The hottest teams in the playoffs are the best teams.
You play the game to win championships; not for best records in the regular season. Just ask that Mariners team that won 100-plus games adn got wiped out in the playoffs.

Love that site. The guy who runs it is a Bostonian.
that would certainly explain many of their articles and opinions...

3 and 3 over the past six years not exactly dominance.
The baseball postseason is flukier than football or basketball. But it's clear that the AL has superior talent and the better teams.
National League baseball, while it involves more strategy, lacks the DH and that factors in big time in terms of talent in the NL. Your 7,8,9 hitters in the NL are pathetic. Look at the Yanks 7,8,9.
