i wanted to start this thread to get some discussion going since i'm assuming most people are having their fantasy football drafts in the coming weeks. i'm always hesitant to discuss fantasy with my friends because i'm afraid they'll steal my picks. couple things to start off:

-everyone is hyping Tom Brady because of his new receivers, i'm actually higher on Carson Palmer this year. a full offseason of workouts will bode well for him i think.
-i had Colston last year. for some reason i just see him getting injured this year and having a sophomore slump.
-love Lee Evans this year. supposedly Losman has looked good, and Evans is his #1 guy.
-i've had stephen jackson the past 2 years and he's been a stud, unfortunately this year he's on everyone's draft radar.
-LT not going on the cover of Madden '08 might be the best move of his career.
-i feel bad for anyone who drafts a player from the Raiders.

that's all i've got for now, hope that starts some discussion.

ya know i told my buddy last year that stephen jackson was my first round sleeper, so that jerk off picked him right before me.

who's on the cover of madden? dont draft him

mcnabb will bounce back to form, westbrook might be worth a first round pick

Westbrook goes for 1300 rushing and 1100 recieving this year.

Jackson is a stud

I love Thomas Jones for the next few seasons

I have a very bad feeling about Brady getting injured this season (I may keep him in one league)

Reggie Bush will not make it through the season healthy

Plaxico will be one of the 3 best fantasy WR's this year

Stay away from Tony Romo

I love Brandon Jacobs

I don't love Marion Barber

what are the chances both of them play the whole season?

yeah injuries are the only thing that worries me about them. they are studs when healthy. other than manning, palmer, brady and brees, QBs are so tough to call. so many questions...losman, eli, shaub, alex smith, who knows how any of them will pan out this year.

i have found that the key (for my league anyway), is to draft RBs that aren't part of a plateau system. that's why jackson, benson, jacobs, jones, ronnie brown, westbrook could be solid picks. on the opposite of that, they are more likely to be injured. but you really get screwed when you draft a RB that splits carries like bush/mccallister or peterson/chester taylor will split carries, kevin jones/tatum bell, etc. i love lawrence moroney this year.

anyone know what's up with frank gore?

Westbrook being injury prone is a myth. McNabb has had some freak injuries in his career, hopefully somehow he can make it through the season. IF he is healthy he is going to put up some great numbers.

mcnabb is more injury prone than westbrook. if the line stays healthy westbrook is gonna be a monster

Freak injuries or not, he's only managed to play a full season twice in the last 5 years. As for Westbrook...I don't know if he's injury prone...but he did miss a game with a knee injury last year...missed time in 2005 because of his foot, sat out 3 games in 2004...and missed the playoffs in 2003. That doesn't exactly scream "iron man" to me.

Westbrook has only missed 10 games over 5 seasons. That is hardly injury prone. I guess because he will miss one game here and there that translates to "injury prone" to some people.

the other solid RB/QB tandem i'm eager to see bounce back from injury is alexander/hasselbeck. no idea what to expect there.

keep an eye out for devin hester in the later rounds, he'll be playing alot of offense this year and wouldn't be bad to have on your bench.

keep in mind he's missing those games while not even being a true featured back. He only has more than 200+ carries once in his career.

:haha:

this is true. i'm just worried about hester's durability this year since he's gonna be playing more.

If you don't get LT or Steven Jackson or any of the other top 4 RB's on your draft board, it might make sense to go with a top notch QB this year like Manning , Palmer, Brees or Brady. After that load up on RB's then get two quality WR's, then depth at RB, you can find two more WR's easily in Free Agency. I picked up Colston and Cotchery in the first week.

Do not take a TE in the top rounds.

Pick up some fast slot receivers.

Keep an eye out for Wes Welker, Brandon Stokley and Kevin Curtis.

Take a flyer on Calvin Johnson.

I think what drives people nuts about Westbrook is that he is ALWAYS listed as questionable on the injury report, and you never know if he's going to play untill 12:55pm. He's always a game-time decision, and there is nothing worse in Fantasy Football than a game time decision.

Westbrook is tough as nails, if he can go he will go, so unless it's a bad injury he's worth starting unless you have a healthy #1 back sitting that's on a roll. They haven't had much in back of him the past few years either so you know he's getting his touches.

In my league we start 3 running backs so taking him out of the line up is pretty much unthinkable unless it's a really bad injury that he couldn't possibly start with. He's tweaked all the time but it's never much to worry about.

Injury reports are mostly worthless because of how inaccurate they are.

yeah, i think he's gonna have an impact. it helps that he has Roy Williams on the other side that defenses will key on.

and yes, i realize i'm making this statement about a Lions player. yuck...

I'm gonna take Vick pretty early, though I thought I heard he got himself into some sort of trouble. i'm sure it's nothing major....
