12th-best odds? Better than I thought.

I'd have the Packers with better odds and the Bengals with worse.

I think the best picks for the odds are Jacksonville, Seattle and Tennessee. Philly at 35-1 is also pretty good.

I like the eagles a lot now that Mcnabb is healthy. Even though the NFC east is likely the toughest conference again in the NFC they have one of the best QB's. If they draft well 35 to 1 are pretty good odds. They were set up well last year but everyone knew Mcnabb wasn't going to be as effective as he normally is with the wounded knee.

well we already know who the home team is going to be on opening night....they just need to figure out who Big Blue is going to play. In addition to their division opponents, they host San Francisco, Seattle, Baltimore, Cincinnati, and Carolina.

Philly if they want a division rival, Seattle if they don't. I bet the Giants and Cowboys will play on Thanksgiving.

maybe, but that game usually does a big rating either way. I bet one Giants-Cowboys game will be claimed by NBC for Sunday night...and another ends up on Monday night.

Winning the SB is awesome, but the downside (if there is one) is a lot of prime time games next year....I'll be lucky if I get 2 1:00 games for the final season at Giants Stadium.

I can't imagine FOX letting both those games get away. You make a good point about Thanksgiving, though--last year I was scratching my head on why the Cowboys played the Jets and not the Patriots, but your reason would make sense of that.

There is not a chance in hell of the Cowboys and Gints playing on Thanksgiving.

I can almost guarantee you, however, that the Giants will open with the Cowboys on that Thursday night game to open the season.

yup, it almost never happens. I think I remember it happening once over the last 15-20 years.

again, that game will do a big rating anyway. I would think the powers that be would want to save the big matchups for later in the year. If you can have Colts-Saints, Steelers-Dolphins and Pats-Raiders, you can certainly have Giants-Eagles/Skins/Seahawks/whoever.

I agree with you. Unless there's a possible rematch of a playoff game from the previous year (i.e. Pats/Colts or Pats/Steelers) the NFL usually opts for a lesser opponent for the defending champs because, like you said, they're gonna get the ratings anyway. And it also seems that they keep division games away from Thanksgiving for the same reason (at least in the Cowboys case). Since 1992 they've only played a divisional opponent on Thanksgiving 3 times, the Giants in '92 and Redskins in '96 and '02.
